Inside Peek at Running My Online Business (12 min video)

In this 12 minute video I’m going to show you a simple layout/system that helps me:

1) keep track of the dozens of projects I have going
2) stay motivated
3) focus on what’s important
4) stay sane (when I want to create EVERYTHING, and YESTERDAY)

You might also be curious about what I do each day. As an online business selling 8 products in 50 countries, and distributing free information to over 60,000 people in 90 countries, SolutionBox is a little unusual. I’m now taking you inside so you can see the projects on my plate right now, and how this online business is run:

FEATURE: Join David in Bed (the ‘Wake Up Video’)

When I say join me in bed – I mean it.

I’m going to go out on a limb here.

I’m actually going to bring you into my bedroom and show you the first 8 minutes of my day.

Why? Because I’ve discovered a simple process that is responsible for a lot of my creativity. For my clarity. For my direction. And for my motivation.

I’m about to show you, video frame by video frame, a process I use that’s largely responsible for my business success.

It’s pretty quick – and I got my whole business vision for SolutionBox out of it. Interested?

You’ll be thinking….”I don’t want to see it, yet I cannot look away!”

Yeah – I know. Me waking up is not a pretty sight I warn you – but c’lick here to watch the 8 minute video and discover this life changing process:

The Wake Up Video

It can help you:
– get motivated to do things you’ve been putting off
– generate a whole to-do list from the subconscious mind, not the conscious
– be incredibly creative.

The Personal Touch

I’m still enjoying meeting wonderful people. Particularly the gorgeous women of NY, PA, and hmmm…Ohio. There’s a lot to be said for monogamy, and…anyone who doesn’t enjoy the dating experience, while on their way to committed bliss, is missing out! My life is now so packed with fun things, people and events, I have no hope of fitting in everything I want to. I believe this is called abundance. And of course…it took time and effort to create.

Been to some fun camps and events, and it continues with a 3 week Germany trip (http://www.paullowe.org/ ) coming up, which will include a Sonja, Goetz and Max visit (my German family).

Burning Man (http://www.burningman.org/ ) is still on the cards for end August.

My beautiful, smart, fun, charming, aware brother Andrew collected my old video camera mini-tapes (from the last 10 years) onto a DVD, so I could see some of them for the first time ever. My goodness, what an amazing trip down memory lane – seeing past partners, past events; it was incredibly moving. So now I commit to buying a digital camera and filming bursts regularly (including a 5 minute interview on the status of my life every 5 years). It may not be interesting tomorrow, but in 5-10 years….

Happy Birthday Leanne (one of my closest friends on the planet and once my wife), Rob and Graeme.

And I had a July 4 party last night in my home – not something you want to do every day (well that would be silly wouldn’t it) but a lot of fun. The lady carrying a manikin doesn’t know it yet, but our paths are meant to cross 😉

MM #63: 16 corporate clients in 24 hours

1. Announcements/Offers

‘First Fifty Clients’ – Shouldn’t you get started now?
“I have applied the information, with terrific results. I started last Monday, making a deal with myself to have a new client each day. So far, that has occurred – and I have ten new clients!”
-Julie Gleeson, US

“I’ve been “writing” mental notes of gratitude for days – and I wanted to finally email a big “thank you”. I laughed, felt supported, and learned so much I could use the next day. I realize now we actually do people a dis-service if we do not reach out to let them know what we are capable of as coaches.” – Vikki Spencer, M. Ed. US

“Although very competent in coaching skills, I really needed a clear path from ‘hello’ to ‘getting a client’… The speech broke it down so clearly, and gave me a structure to use. It is making a big difference in helping me build my practice. And – the free bonus recording of you explaining a trial session in detail was also excellent. After listening, I sat down and called twenty people on the telephone! Thanks David.” – Beverly McGuire, UK

Help us expand?
We’ve set a goal of 100,000 subscribers by November 2006.

Are you getting value from our newsletters? If so, would you let your friends and colleagues know?

I’d appreciate you forwarding this article to 5-100 people (hey why not!) who might get value from this newsletter, and invite them to subscribe. (Hint: who do you know who would make a great coach? Or who is building their practice? Or who would love to add coaching to their skill set?)

Thanks guys.

David

2. FEATURE: 16 corporate clients in 24 hours

Flaven Clayton from Hawaii is a new life coach. And when she said she booked 16 sessions at once, all paid for by a corporation, I had to ask how she did it. So I interviewed Flaven to get the scoop; let’s find out how she did it!

Booking 16 sessions at once

“I’ve been putting myself out there!” says Flaven. She let’s people know what she is up to and invites others to join her.

In this particular instance she had been talking with a friend who is a real estate agent and invited her for a coaching session.

Tip: Coach as many people as possible. They become referral engines for you.

Her friend was so thrilled with the session that she asked her to do a demonstration at a real estate meeting that was coming up.

Tip: Ask your friends and colleagues if they are interested in introducing coaching at work. Offer to do a free demo for their boss.

The owner of the real estate company was so impressed he signed up the agents and paid for the sessions – all 16 of them!

16 sessions just because she chatted with a friend and invited her to a session. Is your brain ticking?

Start with people

Flaven has been a coach for just a few months. She doesn’t even have a web site up yet! But, she has paying clients.

Too often new coaches spend months developing web sites and brochures, instead of actively reaching out for clients.

Flaven says she gets most of her clients by word of mouth. She gets out into the community and lets people know what she is doing.

Tip: Offer people a session, and let them know it will be inspiring, and fun.

Get emotions out of the way

It’s not always so simple though, is it? Flaven offers this message to other coaches trying to expand their practice – get your emotions out of the way. It’s OK to have them, just get them out of the way. Focus on following the next step. Then the next step. Then the next step.

Don’t let the big picture loom over you and halt your progress. Paint the big picture, then set it aside and do the next step.

What’s your next step?

***
If you are unsure about how to invite friends or acquaintances to sessions, check out: First Fifty Clients

Action: Put Yourself Out There

1. Ask yourself if you have been actively inviting potential clients to sessions or if you have been relying on passive measures.

2. How are you going to put yourself out there? What’s your next step. Post at the blog for accountability.

Enjoy!

David

All your client data is safe. (i.e. the reports of the people who have filled in your personal quiz are still intact in your login center)

And – we lost quite a bit of data in the crash, related to your settings – so here’s what I’d like you to check to ensure everything is in order:

2. Continue URL (normally your website)
3. The option for your client to choose phone coaching
if you wish to offer that (currently re-set to email
coaching only)
4. The option to subscribe to your newsletter if you have
one

Personal Update

Hiked yesterday and loved it – truly magical. Meeting nice women with the kind of energy I’m seeking. Feels good. (Maybe a partner is not critical – maybe I just want this energy).

Meeting more people – and thinking would like to meet more people through yoga, and 5 rhythms dancing. (Not that I’m into dancing so much, but I really enjoy the people who are!) Also the Wed night skate, and orgasmic meditation are invitations which draw me. More incense and candles basically.

Using the online dating sites a lot – I figure I should fully have the experience before the phase passes. (quite similar to computer game addiction, or any other addiction really). It’s fascinating to watch myself do this because I’m meeting women every week through parties, friends, or even on the subway. So why do I play with the dating sites, where I seem to be Searching for a magical being in a muggle stream? I think because it’s entertaining.

I’m feeling funny about working – often just wanting to avoid it, escape, like it’s too much to handle. Maybe too many projects. Not sure what the resistance is. The projects really have value to people though, and will bring in revenue, so I plough forth. I actually have a big store of IP to release to the public.

Loving the freedom of not HAVING to do anything, and being in my quiet apartment in NY. And already I have tickets to Germany July 12 to do Paul Lowe and see Sonja. Considering Young Entrepreneurs Conference in Chicago, Burning Man, Harbin Hot Springs. That would probably be way too much travel for this extroverted hermit 😉

Noticing how beautiful some of the men in my life are. Appreciating the masculine energy around me as well as the feminine.

Love and fun,
David
