Charity Project: Blues & Stress Teleclass

Posted by David Wood |

Earlier this year when I was feeling depressed and anxious, I looked for a teleclass so I could dial in and get support from home. And guess what? I couldn’t find one.

Wouldn’t it be a gift to the world, to provide such a service?

You’re invited to apply for one or more of the following positions listed on the mindmap:
– Manager
– Teleclass Leader (must be qualified therapist/psych/counselor)
– Web Traffic Manager/SEO
– PR Manager
– Web Master
– Article Writer
– Newsletter Manager

WHAT TO MENTION IN YOUR COMMENT/APPLICATION:
– your email
– your name
– the position(s)
– the skills you bring to the position
– YOUR EMAIL (so we can contact you. e.g. bill AT goat.com (so automatic email harvesters can’t find it)

I also invite you to let your friends know about this project – perhaps you know someone perfect for it?

David

    David:
There are many aspects to anixety and depression, as our pharmaceutical and medical community will testify to. I have a Masters in Animal Science Nutrition, and spent twenty years in Medical sales, many of them talking about anxiety and depression to physicans, case managers and nurses. I launched Paxil as a drug and also represented Cymbalta. I had chronic pain, and to make a long story short, found that it was because I was picking up others anxiety and pain.
I have since learned how to work with energy to have it pass thru my body instead of marinating in it, and have significantly reduced my use of medication and medical care. I work with a Sacral Cranial massagist that moves energy around. I am also working as an intuitive medium and animal communicator, who talks to spirit guides. I now know how energy, emotions and spirit works thru and with our bodies.
Talking to other’s spirit guides is enlightening and rewarding. I did not want to have the gift, but have found it to change other’s lives in a way no one else can. I now believe (and have for some time) that everything starts in the spiritual body, and if it is not addressed moves into the emotional and physical body. I have instrumented clients getting off as many as 19 medications for disease states that were supposed to be progressive and uncurable. I believe that we can make ourselves low seritonin, by feeling bad, by eating incorrectly, or not being out in the sun. The low seritonin can be addressed by taking a pill or changing beliefs and behavior. It is like arguing which is first, the chicken or the egg. The anixiety may be situational, but a pharmaceutical chemical can change a person’s emotional outlook.
I would be interested in facilitating sessions or working with people one on one. I am God based, and believe we create our reality, and our thoughts become our world.

I have written some articles on Anxiety Control that you can offer to your teleclass. Behavioral approaches in controlling Panic/Anxiety can offer a way to “Get Back in Control.” Article found on the “Articles” page of the Stress Education Center’s website at http://www.dstress.com.

Good luck with your project. Contact me if there is anything I might be able to add that would beneficial to you and your participants.

thanks so much for your comments – going through them all today.

    – http://www.iambackfromthebrink.com/ : can’t see an obvious teleclass on this site

    – http://www.recovery-inc.org (phone link in left menu): looks like there IS a telclass out there. I’m wondering is there still room for us to contribute? I’m thinking with our internet marketing expertise and with some PR behind us, yes! What do you guys think?

    – some good potential teleclass leaders, article writers and blog posters. Great!

    – a few newsletter managers

    – some great potential managers who I’ve contacted for further info.

    – and a potential PR and web person.

    NEXT STEP:
I select a manager, and he/she gets in touch with you all for a teleclass, or to jump into action in your respective roles.

    Cool!

    Dear David,
I have , a dating website and am starting to do events. For 15 years I worked with Christian Singles, wrote a book, traveled and spoke, produced videos, tv, and radio spots. After 30 years of marriage, my husband left. Lost everything (7.5 million and 11 houses). This sent me into a very deep depression to say the least.

During this time I learned EFT and began using it with a Christian slant. I am currently writing an ebook which utilizes the principles I learned plus teachings I have done for years on knowing the “vision for your life”.

I recently found your site and have been enjoying everything! My site is designed and up but I have been struggling with the SEO…I think once this is up and running, my attention will be back to the book and the new events I want to do…

Your request for a manager is interesting to me since I am working on this already…but what about a partner? You definately have the expertise in putting a successful internet business together…would you be interested in getting involved in CLM and then working with me on my new venture http://www.visionlifemap.com I really think this will draw large events across the country…when I have taught vision before, I was missing several keys. Surviving the losses I have experienced has given a new strength I never knew I had and I so desire to help others who are at the bottom of the pit.
Thanks so much for your time!

    Thoughts?

    Hello, David,
After writing my last entry, on Feb. 3, I thought more about what you said concerning a teleclass on depression. there are not many, it is true, but books abound.
and within that genre, it seems that most of the books deal with women and depression, as if it was only something that happens to the female population. the truth is quite different, but depression does suffer from being stereotyped as a woman’s disease.
this is one point that is brought out by Terrence Real. just as depression is associated with women, alcoholism is associated with men, as if this condition only happens to men and there was never such a thing as an alcoholic woman.
this is just one fallacy, among many, that is challenged in Terrence real’s book, I Don’t Want To Talk About It: Overcoming the Secret Legacy of Male Depression, published 1997. Real, who has experienced depression in his own life and that of his father, uses his personal knowledge and skills as a psychotherapist to address this issue. in his book, therapeutic annecdotes abound. his techniques are unconventional, his research convincing and thorough and his frankness refreshing. a must-read for anyone who has experienced male depression firsthand. finally, a book that debunks the gender difference myths and tells a more complete story about this condition.
p.s. depression in children also has suffered the same fate as in men: underdiagnosed, underrecognized and undertreated.
a second book, by another male having experienced depression himself, is the comprehensive: The Noonday Demon: an Atlas of Depression, by Andrew Solomon, published 2001. this Oxford scholar presents one of the most well researched books on the subject, talking about, among other topics, standard treatments and alternatives, depression among different cultures (with personal visits to Greenland, Cambodia and elsewhere to see how these countries deal with it), a historical perspective, and his honest and moving personal account of his battle with the disease. for those who are sensitive, please note that there are some sexual descriptions. firstclass document that can truly be called an atlas on depression, as its subtitled claims.
David, and any others interested in depression among men, if you have not checked either of these out, I recommend you do so. i think you will find it worthwhile. if you get your teleclasses running, perhaps you can have both of these writers on the call as guests.
bonus: The Noonday Demon… is one of those rare books which can be downloaded in its entirety from the web. considering the size of this work, that is a great gesture. go to: http://www.noondaydemon.com
it is time that depression in men got the recognition it deserves. it is time that depression should stop being seen as a condition only affecting women.
David, in light of what these two men have written, you are to be commended for going public with your own personal revelations.

    Dear David,
Your “Parting the Clouds” project sounds wonderful and would be a great contribution to those suffering with depression and anxiety. My husband Dr. Rick Malter and I would like to apply as teleclass leaders or article writers for the newsletter. He is a retired licensed clinical psychologist and I’m a retired counselor, former LCPC. We had a holistic psychotherapy practice for 22 years in which we saw groups and individuals. Our emphasis in treatment was on non-drug alternatives such as nutritional supplements, yoga, meditation, essential oils and of course talk and art therapies. In 1998, we wrote a book “Shrinking the Judge; Freeing the Inner Child” in which we explain our theory about the Inner Psychological Drama, the interplay between the Judge (inner critic and terrorist), the Inner Child and the Warrior (that strong personality part that can stand up to the Judge and “shrink” it). The Judge is an inner source of depression, low self-esteem and anxiety. This is the basis of our treatment of emotional issues of all kinds. Just learning about the Judge is of great help to people because this learning often lifts depression and reduces anxiety.
After retiring as psychotherapists, I have been teaching yoga and Dr. Rick has continued to work with and consult to others on nutritional treatment of emotional and psychological issues. Recently, inspired by you, David, I launched Afterglow Coaching, life and health coaching for people over 55 who want to live their dreams and be healthy enough to do that.
My husband, Rick, wrote a book in 2003 on hair tissue mineral analysis. It is called “The Strands of Health: A Guide to Understanding Hair Mineral Analysis.” The hair mineral analysis is the primary lab tool that we use to direct nutritional treatment of depression and anxiety as well as other stress and emotional issues. We continue to lead groups and workshops on “Shrinking the Judge.” They are extremely helpful in clearing the emotional aspects of depression and anxiety. Our comprehensive body/mind/spirit approach nowadays has an educational format related to the stages of stress, rather than calling it therapy. This is because the Judge is part of human nature and is found in everybody. As health education, the Judge concept works well in a coaching format. This avoids threatening the counseling/psychology establishment which tends to see depression and anxiety as medical, needing referral to psychiatrists and strong toxic drugs.
You can check out our treatment philosophy and our books on our website, http://www.malterinstitute.org. If our skills and 30+ years of experience are of interest to you, please let us know. We would be honored to be of assistance and get our message to a wider audience.

    Hi David,
I love it when someone like yourself reaches out to do something for others in this way. Good job!

I am a Psychotherapist (intern) nearing licensing exams in the state of CA. My specialty is depression and anxiety. I have a lifetime of personal experience working through these issues and can now claim 12 years symptom free and nearing 4 years as a professional therapist with numerous success stories from clients.

I would love to contribute ER type consultation to this project and possibly articles down the road – my plate being a bit full for writing at this time. I think the position indicated is a “commenter”. Please count me in.

I am also giving a professional head-hunter nod toward David S. as Manager. Don’t know him, but his simple response does sound fitting.

Good luck in this project, David, and please let me know how and when I can support.

    Peace and Blessings,

    Hi David

I think this is a great initiative and I’d like to help, either with the PR and/or with the blogging or article writing.

I have about 10 years PR experience so I could help with a PR plan, identifying suitable ways and places to promote the service, identify speaking and interview opportunities and draft up so-called “tactics” to promote the site through features, press releases and other useful information pulled up from the resources site, pulling out topical issues that might resonate with viewers and readers of mainstream media etc

As I am based in the UK I might not be quite right for the role of PR manager (this is for the practical reason that if you are planning to promote this helpline/telecall mostly in the US, it’s probably more practical to have someone who can be contacted at a US phone number if an interview needs to be arranged etc).

I lost my job at a big international PR agency here in London about 4 months ago so I can relate to people currently feeling anxious and depressed – particularly when their jobs are under threat of redundancy or they have already lost their jobs and are struggling with bills and rent/mortgage payments with not much opportunities opening up for alternative employment.

On the format of the teleclass/counseling service: offering support groups / counseling for people who are unemployed might resonate with lots of people so organising smaller groups that can interact virtually/in real life to offer each other support and encouragement might be helpful and a great “complement” to the counseling itself.

If you feel I can be of further help, just let me know.

    Best wishes
    Anja

Hi David. What a wonderful idea.

Helping to educate, inform, stabilize and empower people is what I am about.

My educational and training background includes nursing, psychology, social work, addiction counseling, strategic coaching (through Thomas Leonard in 1998), training (including teleclass leading through Thomas Leonard/ Coachville in 1999).

I have been in private practice in South Florida for almost 20 years. My services focus on psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, chemical dependency and relationships. My approach is holistic in nature, assessing the total person, not just their symptoms, stressing natural and alternative treatment options when appropriate.

My coaching has focused on helping men and women with health & wellness issues, entrepreneurs, women in transition, “soft-skills” building, and therapists interested in building their own private practice.

A member since 1988, I was very active from 1999-2007 with the local unit of the Florida Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and in 2007 honored as the Social Worker of the Year in Broward County (boasting the largest number of members per county for the state – almost 900).

As a teleclass leader one of my achievements was when there was an opportunity to provide service to many people in crisis. Immediately after September 11, 2001, I co-ordinated and lead 12 live teleclasses through Coachville & Teleclass.com to provide information and resources for therapists, coaches and others to stabilize themselves, their families and clients. Thomas Leonard cleared the path for me and donated the bridgelines.

I write and facilitate workshops, teleclasses and home study courses and provide continuing education (CEs or CEUs) for social workers, mental health counselors and marriage & family therapists accepted in many states (which could open the door to do some trainings to therapists as well as the general public).

As co-owner of Life Stress and Wellness Center http://www.stressandwellness.com, I provide clinical direction to several other therapists and currently writing a book on stress release technique with my business and life partner, Dr Russell Ficara.

I’m currently in the process of re-designing my main Behavioral Training Institute website (bti-training.com) and developing Recovery4Women.com and FLTelephoneCounseling.com that could be used to promote your teleclasses.

I would be interested in speaking more with you regarding the teleclass leader position (if you feel that I qualify for your needs) and would be more than happy to provide you with a current resume.

Let me know how I can be of help.

    Warmly,

    Dena

    Hi David

Wonderful posts from other people, inspiring to read.

Fab idea. I am interested in participating probably as an article writer etc. My passion is stress and the mental health of our younger generation. I am a Practising Youth Coach, working with children from a primary level through to teenage and young adult.
There as never been a greater need to help young people with mental health problems, stress and anxiety. If somehow this area could be factored in it would be fantastic.
Just think, young people could be given the right information, tool kits and support with regards to these areas we could help the next generation manage the ever increasing stress/anxiety levels in a totally holistic and empowering way.

    Hope I can help

I would love to contribute to your effort to help others coping with anxiety and depression. I am a university professor teaching sociology – mentoring young people through their fears and anxieties. Probably best contribute writing articles and putting some perspective on their lives in terms of where individuals are situated socially, culturally, etc. Often times individual “troubles” are deeply rooted in problems of the social.

    Hello David,

I am interested in being a teleclass leader for this project.
I think it’s a wonderful idea and invite you to consider several smaller sized groups (10 – 20 people) as it would allow for more individual attention.

I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Northwestern University and 15 years experience working clinically with adults – mostly on anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I combine Eastern wisdom approaches (e.g, mindfulness and body-based approaches) with Western ‘Cognitive’ approaches to give people the full range of methods for opening to their inner light and transmuting the darkness. My passion is to help people awaken to and express their natural joy and magnificence.

I completed coach training through CTI and am certified with the ICF. I also coach for the Compass Organization that provides high-quality, low-cost coaching for women. If interested, please contact me for further discussion.

    Have a great day!

    David

I am responding to your email about expanding the scope of your coaching site and would be interested in talking with you further about facilitating a weekly anxiety/depression support group. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and have worked with clients in a variety of mental health settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics and in private practice. As you are well aware anxiety and depression are two of the most common and most costly mental health issues that people struggle with and the internet is a growing resource for people to find help to overcome these issues.

As a therapist and life coach I am experienced in both diagnosing and treating the various types of anxiety and depressive disorders and in making appropriate referrals to physicians when there is a need for a medication evaluation. As you are aware there can be some increased liability issues in working with people with any type of mental health issues and I believe I have the experience to help you negotiate these issues so that you can offer the kind of much needed support group without opening yourself or your business up to unwanted or unnecessary liability.

I am a member of both the American Counseling Association (www.counseling.org ) and the American Association for Christian Counselors ( http://www.aacc.net ) and try to stay current with the best care practices in the counseling field through research based outcome studies as well as staying abreast of promising alternative treatments that many people pursue today. I have experience facilitating both patient therapy groups as well as leading more informational groups for the general public. I have also given numerous professional seminars on topics including: Depression, Suicide Prevention, Stress Management, Autism and Asperger’s Disorder and several others.

Currently I am a member on the online counseling and referral site http://www.eCounseling.com which provides online resources for people as well as referral to licensed therapists who provide online counseling through various means including phone calls, follow up emails and live chats.

Another important part of providing good coaching for difficulties in this area would be follow up and I have recently been developing an online coaching follow up program by using an online project management tool called Base Camp. If you are interested in talking with me further about this opportunity I would be glad to give you access to a potential follow up tool that could be used to provide additional resources to callers during the following weeks.

I have some experience both hosting and being a guest on a radio show where I covered both coaching topics as well as dealing with mental health issues in a listener call in format. I have a broad based knowledge in the areas of anxiety and depression and would feel comfortable answering most questions in these area but certainly know my limits and do not have a problem saying “I don’t know” as well as knowing how to make an appropriate mental health referral to those who may need more substantial help than can be provided in a tele-class format.

I would also be interested in submitting articles on mental health related topics for your site. I also have a coaching website that I would be glad to share with you if you are interested in talking with me further but I am having a technical difficult right now and did not want to send you a bad link.

Thanks for your time and I will continue to follow the development of your ideas and your coaching business.

    David,

I would love to get involved here. I am not psych qual ( yet ) and I am not a life coach as yet, I am just someone whose father happens to suffer Depression and I think the real area that I am strong in is in the counselling of all the other people involved and getting behind the scenes work done for the depressed person in question ( ala checking local welfare, local representatives, checking ” ensurances ” re life necessities and the like ). Basically, its like an answer to WHO IS COUNSELLING THOSE TRYING TO GIVE THE HELP. I even came up with my own basic approach to problem solving as a result ( its probably known already but I have called it the KEAR approach nonetheless ). The main way in which I could indeed contribute is through writing articles and blogs.

I truely hope this gets off the ground and I would love to indeed be a part of it.

    cheers

    Hi David,
Once again I am impressed and amazed by your openness. I think its a gift and for all of us who are trying to assist others on their journey, its good to know that we can be human too.

Thanks for the reminder and the honestly

Just a matter of interest, instead of a teleclass, would series of peer groups (small clubs of 10-15 people) which meet (physically and or virually) and discuss regularly be an alternative option.

Based on a common set of principles and code of ethics this could be a support group that maybe could be helpful in such situations.

once again thanks for the openness and courage.

    Hei!
This really sounds like a good idea. If I should do anything of this I’d like to be the teleclass leader. I feel that this would let me help people in a wider area- a good challenge for me.
I work with people with all kinds of problems and anxiety and depression seems to develop more and more, and it is really important for people to know that it is possible to learn how to live with this day by day and finally (goal) get the boss over this problem.
    But I don’t have a certification…only my experience.
    Good luck!

    Hello, David,
I am a life coach in training with ICA–that should ring a bell with you! (laugh). I have heard several of your teleclasses and am impressed with your sincerity and coaching technique.
I can understand why you would want a teleclass leader to be a qualified counselor/therapist. Depression is, after all, a serious psychiatric condition and demands someone knowledgeable. Having said that, I think a qualified coach, one who is skilled in teleclass leadership, can also be an effective class leader.
Often, the best people are those who have gone through anxiety and depression themselves.
As I said before, I am in training with ICA and took their special class in teleclass leadership. I am now leading a successful teleclass. My coaching is directed at women, but in the teleclass you are contemplating, I would be happy to share with anyone.
To hear my teleclasses, which are presented live on Sundays and Tuesdays at 12pm NY EST, all are invited to dial:
    1-212-990-8000
    pin code: 1067#
To hear recordings of my teleclasses at any time, dial:
    1-718-906-6400
This phone number connects you to the Kol Halashon phone line.
this phone line is run by the Jewish community, but persons of all faiths are invited to listen.
Once there, press “1” for the English menu, “5” for classes for women, “4” for the submenu: Leah Neuman classes, and another “4” to hear: “Mrs. Tziporah Wishky on readings by Rabbi Zelig Pliskin.” If you follow these instructions, you will have access to the teleclass archives and can dial in the class number : ex.: 11 to hear the 11th class in the series.
Depression is a serious illness. I know about it firsthand, having struggled with chronic depression and OCD since 2001. For long-term success with depression, a person must learn to think in new and more helpful ways. These teleclasses, based on the book, Begin Again Now, authored by life consultant, Zelig Pliskin, offers real solutions to transforming one’s life. they are not specifically targetted for those suffering from depression/anxiety, but those in this category would find them helpful.
Each class has two parts: the first part is a teaching framework in which I read a short entry of this encyclopedic work, and the second part is a class discussion among the participants (open discussion available at the time of the live teleclass, but not recorded). each teleclass is 60 minutes, recording alone approximiately 30 minutes.
Additionally, I have found message boards very useful and helpful in assisting me to manage my mental health and life on a daily basis. All are invited to see my long-running thread, which is posted on the ivillage self-injury message board.
    To find it, go to:
ivillage.com, then open the message boards, and find the one called “self-injury”. my thread is called, “belated welcome” and has over 400 entries.
P.S. ivillage.com has several great message boards addressing the issues of depression and anxiety directly.
ivillage is a huge website dedicated to women.
Since my behavior includes self-injury, but not the traditional type, I write on this board.
    Finally, a question for David.
At what time/s would these teleclasses be aired? Till now, I have not been able to participate live in any of them, since they all occur in the middle of the night, Israeli time. I have downloaded recordings of your teleclasses. I hope alternative times will be available so that people all over the globe can be served by this valuable and long overdue service.
will recordings be available for those unable to participate live?
Whether or not I am invited to give a teleclass, and I would consider that a privilege, I hope people will check out the resources I have listed here.
Depression and anxiety are lifelong battles. With appropriate, supportive, and competent help from professionals and knowledgeable lay persons, we can win the battle against this overwhelming force.

    Hi David,

The timing of this is amazing. I’ve placed an intention on being able to do some work that I love and your email shows up. My background is diverse. I’ve spent 25 years in business and management. In particular accounting, database/network administration, and executive assistant.

I’ve lived in depression most of my life. After a life event a few years ago, I’ve decided it was time to change careers. I’m back in school getting my Masters in Counseling. I’m one of the founders of a non-profit which will take a holistic approach to teaching empowerment and providing the the support network during the training and learning process.

I think the idea is fantastic. It parallels programs we are looking to include in our foundation. I’m looking for experience and partnerships. I would like to offer my services as an article writer and a moderator.

    Thanks for a fantastic opportunity.

    Hi David,

I would be interested in writing articles or blogging. My background would be in dealing with individuals going through depression and stress due to the loss of a loved one. I have recently been certified as a coach and feel led to help others who have suffered the loss of someone in their life. My life experiences are in consulting but when my husband passed away unexpectedly the same week I quit my full time job and started my own consulting business – the ‘blues’ couldn’t really be described… Let me know how I might contribute.

    Hi David,

How wonderfully courageous of you to seek help, not find it, and yet create a depression, stress & anxiety but I have extensive experience in facilitating small groups on dealing with loss as well as individual one-on one sessions of peer counseling. Thus, my life experiences both personally and from observations of others have taught me valuable lessons that I’d be more than happy to share with others thru the written word. I can help and contribute to your project in the area of writing articles or as a Newsletter Manager. I hope to hear from you soon with more details.

    Thanks!

    Hi David,
What an exciting and timely opportunity! I am a communications professional with over 20 years experience in the non-profit and tech sectors. I am currently looking for new career opportunities and am exploring spiritual psychotherapy and coaching to build on my education in psych and desire to help people with depression and anxiety, 2 conditions that had plagued me most of my adult life until my life opened to spirit 3 years ago. Through body-mind-spirit integration, I have successfully weened myself off anti-depressants and now live a life with new “glasses”.
I could assist you in your project in a number of capacities: being a communications professional, I am excellent at writing and newsletters; with my experience in the tech sector, I could assist with any web positions; having managerial experience, I could oversee the whole she-bang!
I think you’ll get lots of interest from your readers, and will get more help than you need on this important project. I would love to help in any capacity so I encourage you to get in touch to hear more of my “story” and life experience that makes me a perfect candidate to get aboard. I love your work and how you live your life on display (I’m one of your Facebook buddies) – you’ve been an inspiration to me personally in my journey of self-discovery and reinvention. I even had a dream about you a couple of weeks ago where you were one of my teachers! So now, I think that dream was a bit of astral serendipity as you put this call out to your subscribers to help with a topic I am ever-so familiar with!
I sincerely hope to hear from you and all the best with this project!!

Hi David,I am very interested in working with your vision. I have more than enough experience concerning stress and coaching.
My mother passed away at 13 along with everyone in the house I lived in within a month of each other. I’ve lived in every state almost my dad was in the Air Force.
My oldest son was killed in a drive-by shooting (accident) in 1995, my youngest son passed away May 4,2008.
I currently work with children at an elementary school, serve on the Town Council and have an online business.
    I think I know a little about stress…
Please consider me for one of your positions.
Thank you very much and I can’t wait to hear more,

I am very interested in this project. I would love to submit articles for you. In fact, I am just beginning an Ebook entitled, Beyond Depression without Drugs. I struggled with depression several years ago and was able to pull myself out when counseling and antidepressants failed. I do have a degree in psychology and have written a book previously called, Being, Inspired: Finding Answers, but this new ebook is a recent inspiration that will be part of a larger program I call, Stepping Into The Light! You can also contact me via pat at thesoulfullife dot com. Thanks so much for being the catalyst for this program.

Hi David: I am interested in learning about your vision for the blues and stress teleclass. I bring a degree in psychology and over a decade of experience running non-profit organizations. Most recently a volunteer based organization.
I have direct experience assisting folks with anxiety and depression but I am not a lic therapist.
Again the concept is appealing and would like to learn more about your vision or perhaps participate in the brainstorming process to move concept to reality.
    Looking forward to hearing more,
    Melonie

    Hey, David!

Let me add my kudos to your effort and toss my hat into the ring for newsletter manager. Sure I have other skills, but this is something I’ve done in various corporate, public and private positions for years. (taking others’ work, crafting a logical flow, and setting it up). I’m a certified HypnoCoach and hypnotist, and have a growing practice. Like everyone else here, I’ve had my own struggles with depression, and now with my teen-aged son’s severe depression, along with challenges with my husband (18 years and still going!). It’s great that we’ve all been there, and done that, and recognize the need to reach out and help others.

    Count me in!!

    Hi David

Due to the economic downturn causing a reduced number of business coaching clients, my husband recovering from Colon Cancer (he is doing extremely well)and my own health crisis (I have to go into hospital for yet another lady operation), I too suffer from anxiety and depression from time to time. But no matter what is going on around me, I always come back to coaching as a way to see me through the tough times. Cognitive behaviour Therapy and medication also helps.

I believe that we can incorporate Cognitive Behaviour Therapy into a coaching style which will really help those that suffer from anxiety and depression.

I would love the opportunity to help you make the world a better place for those suffering with anxiety and depression. I could be a Teleclass Leader, Article Writer or Newsletter Manager.

I can really see this as being a successful support for so many people suffering from depression and anxiety. Put don’t forget there are a whole myriad of mental health disorders that can result in depression, so you will need some specialists in those fields too.

Please let me know how I can be a part of the team.

    Kind Regards, Ann-Marie

I am not a trained coach, but have a great deal of interest in working with people who feel “lost.” I was once there and it took drugs (which I do not advocate) and some process (which I can’t remember much about) to get me out of that FUNK. At that time I would have been dreadfully afraid of contacting anyone to “talk”. That, of course, is a mistake.

How can this website reach people who just want someone to talk to? Kind of like a suicide hotline? I have listened to David’s style which is strongly non-judgmental – very important as coach and for sensitive people.

I would be interested in volunteering to be a listening ear. My preference is a format with the ability to pass results back into the group so as to monitor and maintain quality and to allow for improvement.

Dealing with anxiety and depression can be lonely. Most of us don’t want to admit there is something bigger than us that we can’t control. We grow fearful that our feelings will take over and consume our sprit. During the first trimester with my second child, I was diagnosed with perinatal mood disorders and managed the depression with large doses of Omega 3, hours of coaching and an amazing husband. I continue to receive support even now three months postpartum.

I am a Certified Professional Coach, a mom of two beautiful little boys and facilitate education seminars on basic retirement planning. Being part of a team that brings support to feelings that can seem overwhelming and isolating would bring some peace to the depression I’ve experienced first hand.

I’m ready to be part of the team.

    Regards, Candy

I am an ambitious personal development success story in the flesh! I have experienced depression first hand, and worked through dozens of the best personal development books out there to not only work through it, but I am currently engaged to the most outgoing, cheerful, beautiful woman I’ve ever met!

I can go on for hours on any topic, personal development-wise, and I feel that I can contribute in a very positive way through this project!

Professionally, I’ve worked in a managerial role at a diamond jewelry wholesale firm in NYC for over 3 years, and I feel that I can apply these skills to article contribution as well as a management role.

I really appreciate what you’ve done here with your website – and I would be honored to take part in something like this, with the aim of making the world a brighter place!!

I would like to contribute to your project by writing articles. I was intriqued to see you using a mindmap since I am a certified project management professional (PMP) and use the mindmapping tool to organize ideas. I am also a certified coach who got into coaching because of stresses in my career, marriage and life. I utilize the tools and techniques of project management to inspire people to move from “Here to There”, wherever they define “There” to be. I am a member of the National Speakers Association and a professional trainer and speaker.

    Hi David

I’m very interested in the Managers position. I am a qualified stress management consultant as well as a registered personal development coach. My past experience consists of setting up and running the Connexions Direct help line which was set up to help 14-19 year olds with all types of problems from abuse drugs, bullying amongst other things. Being anxious and depressed were some of the symptoms the young people suffered from as a direct result of their situations.

My stress management consultancy specialises in anxiety management and self confidence.

I could go on but would be happy to discuss further with you if you feel I am the type of person you are looking for.

I hope to hear back from you soon with further information on how I can apply or assist this new idea.

    Kind regards

    David Snelders.

    Hi David,

What synchrony! I was just working on my book today which has been accepted for publication by Delmar Learning. The book is related to assessing and working with individuals with communication disorders such as those suffering from stuttering. The text is a collaborative effort for which I am first author and my specialty in the text is the area on counseling.

I am a full-time faculty member in university and train the graduate students in clinical interviewing and counseling techniques. As a certified coach I incorporate the coaching principles into my classes as well as my book, specifically from the co-active model. I would love to lead this class as I hold both a Master of Science and coaching certificate. In addition, I speak for several organizations to include the physicians at the psychiatry grand rounds at hospitals, the faculty in university, as well as for the executive commanders of the NYPD.

I would be honored and gratified to lead this workshop as I too, like so many others, have battled anxiety and depression. Thus, I feel that I have the personal experience, educational training and expertise and well as personal experience with these problems to inspire confidence and hope.

Congratulations on your creative and inspiring project. We seem to be in sync – let’s do it!

    Cheers,

    Hi David

I’ve followed your progress for a couple of years via newsletters etc., and now facebook. In fact, we had a short chat just a couple of weeks ago.

I would love to be able to contribute to this in some way. At this time, I think I’m probably better for article writing than any of the other positions, though who knows how you grow eh?

I believe most everyone goes through depression or extreme anxiety at some point in their lives. Whether they will all admit to it though, is another aspect. And I’m a believer that you need to acknowledge a problem exists before you can be part of the solution and break the pattern.

However, most who end up with their GP find that the only real offering is pharmaceutical to deaden the problem than resolve it anyhow, or a counsellor who just has you go over the finer details over and over, immersing you deeper into the mindset, whilst constantly checking their watch (yes, I’ve been there).

Those who build new lives have generally found other resources to do so, and as you discovered – finding those resources is hardly glaringly available! So well done you, for coming up with this idea.

I’m a coach, NLPer, and hypnotherapist amongst a gamut of other minor specialiites. So if I can be of use for this, then I’d love to come aboard.

Hope we talk about it soon.

    Hi David,

I just saw your note about setting up a teleclass, and felt compelled to write to you. After an extremely stressful year in 2007, I became ill and collapsed, and ended up suffering from anxiety and symptomatic nervous illness. I spent nearly three months in hospital as a result of what happened, and it is only now that I am starting to become relatively symptom free. The irony is that I too am a coach and whilst being the scariest thing I have ever been through it has (like most trials in life) proven to be a great gift, as I have really had to learn the nature of true surrender and acceptance of what is.

I have learned a great deal about anxiety and depression disorders, and was blessed with having mentors in my life who have really enabled me to learn through what I was going through. These are such misunderstood illnesses at times and there is a real need for the right help, and that isn’t often in the form of the latest tablet or pill. I would be willing to help, perhaps by writing articles commenting on blogs or helping to manage the project or similar – I could send you some of my articles on transformation or coaching if you are interested. Let me know.

One online resource I did find that helped me was http://www.anxietycentre.com. This was helpful because it is written by people who have been through and recovered from these illnesses. However, it is subscription based (although not too expensive).

Anyway enough rambling – if any of this resonates, please drop me a line.
