want to review a sneak advance chapter? (private R&D note)

Posted by David Wood |

McGraw Hill just made an offer on the book, and I have 4 weeks to write the second half!

I’ve created 6 volunteer slots for book reviewers: Would you like to review sneak advance
chapters?

Commitment is a min of 4 hours over the next 3-4 weeks. I send the draft, you read it and send back suggestions, comments, questions. You’ll help me fill in any blanks and ensure it hits home.

TO RESPOND:

please tell me (there’s a private field for your email address) what draws you to review the book how many hours you think you could devote over 3-4 weeks – in the field below.

And thanks for helping!

David
www.SolutionBox.com

P.S. What’s the book about? It’s 7 simple steps to sharing your message with the world via a successful online business. And it’s called ‘Get Paid For Who You Are’.

I’d be honoured to review your book. Among other things, I’m a psychologist, researcher, trainer, coach, and award-winning writer and editor. I love your attitude and your work, and I’m in the right market for your message. I’m a late arrival at your party, so email me if you’re still interested.

your information is accurate, timely and valuable. people need that in this info-saturated world. you provide solid guidance and counsel to individuals; hence, I believe your upcoming creation will continue in that vane. i too have helped thousands of individuals over the past 20+ years in defining, finding and pursuing their career paths. if we don’t provide benefit/value to others we then have a very shallow life. let me know should you have another project requiring assistance. simply joe

What draws me to you and, therefore, the opportunity to review your book chapters?

Simply stated, “I am an average guy who has been following your emails for some time. Although I have often considered ‘blocking’ your email, I never have because, frankly, I am attracted to the subject matter.”

I spend a fair amount of time surfing the web and have become quite the skeptic. It seeems the web is filled wih more scams and schemes of every variety imagineable. Often I have wondered if you are real, or simply another person workig feverishing to leverage the web for their personal gain. Don’t get me wrong! I absolutely believe in utilizing this resource for wealth creation. My problem (issue) lies in those who would give nothing of themselves (truly) all to make a buck.

I am, personally, commited to (and have a passion for) the subject matter. In a career spanning 30 years, I have been and continue to be committed to assisting individuals (and organizations) to be the very best they can be in whatever they choose to do.

Given I remain committed to “living my life at the leading edge of my ignorance”, I welcome the opportunity to review chapters of your new book.

The commitment for reviewing your work is very workable for me, as for many people. I will be a good reviewer for you because I have breadth and depth into many industries and people of many backgrounds and culture. If you are looking for someone who can give you discriminating reviews and opinions about concepts you are interested in presenting to the readers, I would be the one for you. Thanks for opening up the possibility to contribute.

Hi David! Like minds gather and grow. I was inspired by your work 2 years ago, which gave me direction in deciding to grow a coaching business. The Coach Workbook guided me to begin my transition and still today I use the 50 Power Questions, along with other ideas you have, to empower my work. I love your thought process and would be honored to review your work, as I am in the phase of expressing my self and being paid for who I am. Thanks for considering me. Sincerely- Sally

    Dear David,

In South Africa, our time scale is different, so I am late in my reply. It seems that you already have enough willing and competent people offering their services, we are all so eager and desirous of helping you.

My claim to fame? I have edited a chapter of a Dr. Michael Hall’s book. My mother’s work has been published, after hours, days, weeks of editing and editing. Hall says one should edit 6 times!

Being a long-time now qualified coach (and yes, of course I also bought your Coach Start, 10 Super Coaches, etc.) and an Identity Compass consulant, have the ability to ‘interpret’ the languaging and assess the meaning and intention. Sometimes we need to change a word or phrase to include people with a diffrent thinking preference (meta program), or add word or phrase to include those people.

Also continuously edit and desktop publish the works of others, and have been doing that for about 19 years. Oops giving my age away!

Being South African though, it could land up with British spelling! My family are British too, which means I was brought up with the meticulous attention to detail.

Whether you are abe to utilise me or not, I wish you all the gloriousness that will absolutely follow you and your book, and offer my congratulations on the fact that McGraw Hill have that faith in you, and made the offer for the book! Wow, does that ever deserve celebration!

Warmest regards and love surrounds you,
    Lori

I’d love to provide feedback on your new book as I have an interest in your topic ‘Get Paid For Who You Are’! Love the title. I can provide a couple hours a week reviewing your book. There is so much material out there to filter through, therefore my feedback would represent your target audience. Thanks.

    Hi David,
I’m drawn to this task, because I love the book title, which is one of the first things you need to get right in terms of our publisher selling the book and I think that is a winner and it’s bound to resonate with the personal development market sector.

More selfishly, I’d just love to read it before publication, again based on the title alone.

Re my writing credentials, I’m usually asked by my boss (high flying lawyer in large firm) to write up our departmental award submissions, as she regards me as being very creative in terms of ideas and good at expressing them in writing. I also proof our ezines and generally assist with writing tasks, which I love doing, so it’s no trouble. I can give about two to three hours a week, but I’m pretty fast, so should get though a lot. Plus, I’m changing career and about to do a course in press officer/marketing/speechwriting so I’m looking for practical work experience, even if unpaid at the moment!

    Hi David,
I have received your regular emails, podcast, news and updates for quite some time now as this is a field that I am particularly interested in both privately as well in my 22 years of work in clinical practice and teaching university students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the latter now more via distance learning and on-line using all the appropriate on-line tools (sound educational principles and research, internet marketing, information management, etc.). Also being a contributor to a popular textbook in my field, having authored scientific articles and been the editor of a profesional journal I am well aware of the need for peer reviews, comments and suggestions – all the things that I wish I had when I started out. I would be very pleased to help you out here in return for all the good material and advice that I have already received from your regualr emails.

I’d love to help review your book. I’m drawn to the title: “Get paid for who you are” and feel this is most important to success in general – finding and nurturing who we truly are and sharing what we truly know (and are good at). It seems most people are stuck in the wrong career and don’t really know who they are (or how to get paid for who they really are). It’s time for a big shift – to find and accomplish our purposes in life – and feel that wonderful feeling of knowing you are doing what you are meant to do. I have discovered a bit of this lately – finding and working on a true purpose and that feeling is truely wonderful.

I’m a good writer – definitely can add value if I do the needed – 3 reads, which I would be happy to do.

    Hi David,

I definitely feel very pulled to this one!

My timing is flexible and can certainly put in at least 4 hrs a week.
If your book draw me so much, I will probably find myself so absorbed in reading/working on it until I drop… lol

I am a bit of a book worm. Love it. I find every book also give me inspirations and beneficial triggers into my own learning & understanding.

My speciality is in ‘audience & communication flow dynamic’.
Sensitive, intuitive and very aware of subtle connections in communications. I am working on my own book & e-training courses. I am a little bit behind the scene at the moment and working on coming to the forefront more.

After years on intense learning & practices in conveying variety of messages to international audience, I feel it is time to really step up as well as help others who are dedicated to their calling & life purpose.

Mine, is about assisting people to ambrace their magnificence and stepping up to their full-potentiality via powerful presence and dynamic+authentic creative expressions.

I have been following your work for a while and admire your transparency & humility. Great Job.

I can also be found on FaceBook if you search for Ammarah TeVla.

Hope to be able to assist.

    Hi David

Whilst I am not known as an author, copywriter or proofreader I can offer you my thoughts and opinions on the practicalities and useability of your ‘7 simple steps’.

I have spent many hours on the net educating myself on this same subject and have not found anything that completely fills the gap for me. After recently purchasing your Coach Start Manual I was thrilled to discover that you seem to be able to provide that extra bit in a straightforward, insightful and practical way that tends to be glossed over by many others.

That is why I would love to be part of this project.

It would be great to offer my support, for the time you need over the next few weeks, to help you provide another quality product on a useful subject.

    Cheers!

    Hi David,

It would be my pleasure to help you with this project. As I am in between projects myself (but not worried about it) I could devote quite some time to this, say around 20 hours per week, each week.

I am an author myself and know the value of a good proof reader so that by the time the editor gets it, at least the content is reviewed.

    Have a great day 🙂

    Hi David,
I have recently had the chance to start going through your coaching manual, and the material that is in that book is really quite helpful, I have just started my coaching business and I have been doing really well with your help, I even have a few people that I am helping to learn about coaching as well and I have directed them to your site, so we are building a nice team here in Surrey B.C.
I really think I would personally get a lot out of reading your newest book and I would love the opportunity to preview and take the time that it takes to commit to helping you proof read it. I am very familiar with proof reading scripts, I have been a writers agent for the past 23 years, and reading material and making notes is something I am very comfortable doing.
feel free to view my web site http://www.DeborahHarryTalent.com to see what I have been doing these past 23 years before coming a coach.

    David,

This seems like a lucky coincidence. I’m devoting the next few months to launching a new online venture that wiil be the culmination of my life’s work and, I believe, a much needed contribution to the new world we’re birthing. I respect your heart and your vision enough to make this commitment: let me use your book as a guide for putting together my project and I’ll let you know every step of the way how it’s working for me, what questions I have and what’s confusing or unclear. I can safely promise at least six hours a week on this, given that this project will be my main focus at least through the end of the year. Let me know what you think. If the book can really deliver on it’s promises, it would be fortuitous for both of us.

    Thanks,
    Michael

I would love to get into Life coaching and I also want to contribute to anything I can once it doesnt encroach on my conscience and that of others. Being employed fulltime and a university student part-time my schedule is pack to the max,, but I believe it will also be enriching to take part in other ventures such as this. So honestly I can only devote 2 hrs per week with my schedule and I will give it the best I can.

I have lived a life that has led me to the conclusion that Life Coaching is what I was meant to do. I am one of those who does it all the time, naturally. I didn’t realize that is what I was doing until I started studying about being a Life Coach last year. I want it so bad I can taste it. 🙂 Ok, I have at least 15 hours a week I could devote to reading chapters. I love to read and study and God knows I love to share my opinion with anyone who wants it! If you still need someone to help, I am your woman!!! Thanks for the opportunity to share. Elaine

Congratulations, first off! A few primary reasons I’d love to lend a hand (and a couple of eyes!): I am a full-time freelance editor and writer who knows the value of networking. I had a life coaching web site set-up several years ago, did the market research, and strongly believe that many benefit from having a sounding board and an emotional ‘atta boy/girl’ to help them towards finding and achieving their goals. Lastly, I applaud the time and effort I’ve seen you contribute towards helping others to be successful. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Dear David:

Look at all these good people willing to GIVE you their time to help you get more information out to the public. What a testament to your gifts and your products…people want to be apart of what you are up to and I think that is amazing. Yay for you for creating this and yay for me if you decide I can be of help to you in reviewing your new book.

I could commit 8 hours over the next month. I have been in the business of helping people create transformation in their lives since 2000…mostly working with those experiencing homelessness, drug addiction, having children taken away, the under and unemployed, etc. If you are looking to diversify your client/market base, I would bring a unique and specific view from my years of community organizing and urban social problem solving. I am also just beginning to set out on my own, so the opportunity to absorb new information from you based on getting paid for who you are…this idea – that people’s stories are their power is incredibly strong for people who have been typically disenfranchised for that same reason.

As always, good work. Thank you for what you do.

    best,
    Patti

    David –

You were the first person to teach me how to get started as a coach (I found your site and your info in 2006-2007). I found your site and your products early – and found them to be both pragmatic and inspiring. So many land too far in the inspirational, without pragmatic “rubber meets the road” info, or too many practical steps without seeing the possibility of living our dream. As a resule, I continue to come back to you and Solution Box for information, guidance and inspiration (a loyal customer, if you will).

I would love to review and offer feedback on your book. I am still learning to build and grow my own business, so reading advance chapters would be of interest (and immediate applicability) to me and my business. (I continue to look to you for guidance in this adventure.) I would embrace the opportunity to provide feedback regarding clarity, focus, and completeness of what you’ve covered (from my perspective). I have a high commitment to quality and excellence – and my feedback would reflect that. This would also be a way for me to express my appreciation to you, for what I’ve learned from you over the past few years. If I can help you take what I imagine is already a great book with an abundance of information and make it even better, that would feel really good.

To that end, I would be able to spend about 2 or so hours a week for the next month or 2 in reading, reviewing, and providing thoughtful feedback on your chapters.

    Wishing you the best.

    Regards,

    Lori

I am presently learning all I can learn in helping people to move forward in their life and I know this would be a wonderful opportunity for me to give 4 hours of my time. I have never written a book but I do know how to gather information. I have read several self help books and still reading them. I have spent days and nights with these books and hours searching the internet for the best information to help me also move forward. The topic is very exciting to me because I feel that people are doing so many things that they don’t want to do just to get a pay check. They have been settling all there lives and pleasing other people. Not taking the risk because of security they think they have we a job and we all know what happen with that. People do not know that times are changing and a lot of people are not changing with the changing times. My mission in this life and I have chosen to accept it is helping people along you subject matter to see the light and I thank you a head of time for choosing me as one of your volunteers. After my son’s tragic motorcycle on March 24, 2009 at the age of 26 he lost his life but what gives me strenght sometimes is knowing how many different lives he touched and how so many young people looked up to him and also so many different different nationalities he got to know and how he studied their culture to get to know them better. One of his co workers sent a card that said I did not work closely with my son who name is Montrez but he always had a friendly “hello” for her. He will be missed. He always made her day a bit brighter. After reading that it gave me the peice of mind that my son was out there making differences in people lives just by having a friendly hello and smile. My son loved his motorcycle and it gave him peace and the joy that he needed to live his life. He took those risk knowing that his life could end but he did so anyway and his passion and excitment came through as he rode. He lived his life without fear he lead a fearless life. And I want to be able to help the next person be all they can be in spite of. As a shy person so I have been called I was able to get up in front of hundreds of people to thank them for coming to my son services and for me that was a step out of the box. I could not believe the strenght that came upon me people would say Madgie I don’t know if I would be able to do that. One person saying to me you should really look into life coaching I know you would be great at it. My determination, willpower, and desire has brought me this far. Thanks for being one of my blessings. Madgie Avery

I would love to help, David.

Although I seldom have time to read all your emails when they first arrive, I do keep them in a separate folder for later reading. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into keeping us informed.

The subject matter of the book interests me and I will make the time to help you with this project. Good luck.

    David,

I’ve been following you through your newsletter for a few years and love your work. I’m expecting that you’ll touch a lot of lives with this book. In that vein I too have been willing to shed some blood, sweat, and yes even tears at times.

I think you too know a little of my work and I may have something to offer you in this next leg on your journey. It has always been my way to choose to stand side by side with colleagues I respect and admire, never in front or behind, preferring as I said “shoulder to shoulder.”

So I can and would give you the time it takes to contribute to this undertaking … four hours … ten hours … let see what it takes. What I would commit to is simply doing what it takes if I am going to contribute at all.

In any case I wish you the best with this book and regardless of whether or not I help with the review and comments let’s plan on an interview on my radio show, another with my monthly group – Million Dollar Business Building Private Access, and finally a blast to my entire list. So make sure you keep me in the loop.

    All the best,

    Joseph

    Hi David,

I am a life coach, trainer mediator and e marketer. I would live to review your book, as I have good eye for detail and very particular about the ethoics/ethos behind the words. I hate books that seem to give advice and once you try to weave this into your own life your realise that it is either inflexible, judgemental or worse of just to shallow; i.e. words adn no substance. thuis, when reviewing the chapter I will offer constructive and honest sugestions that will enable you to reflect on what you are trying to say, promote nad how I have interpretated the words within the sentance, paragraph etc. I would be able to offer you 4 hours minimum over the next 4 weeks and these will be quality hours dedicated to you.

I look forward to working with and for you.

    Liz

Hi David, I am a life coach and a solution oriented person. I love receiving your emails. Ten days ago, my wonderful happy go lucky 55 year old husband died suddenly and while my heart is in pain, there is a part of me that seeks the light, gathers the strength and struggles to move forward. I noticed there are quite a few people who have answered your email and are ready to volunteer. So I am thinking you are pretty set on getting the assistance you need. However, if I can be of assistance please let me know. I am an English major and adjunct faculty member and have tons of experience helping others work through their difficult times – I thought that this project would bring me solace – so if you need any “second eyes” I am willing. Hi David,

Yes, I’d be happy to help you!

    Why?

First, I love books and I love to write myself.

Second, I’m all into personal development and the theme you’re writing about is very close to what I do for people.

Third, I have in the past written and submitted 3 manuscripts to renowned publishers and have received solid feedback from 2 that I’m good enough a writer to be published.

That’s feedback I’m taking onboard for my next project.

I therefore suggest this would be a win-win deal and will prioritze the necessary time.

    Cheers,

    Tom

    Dear David,

As a coach and a volunteer youthworker, questioning people and helping them to excel is where I get my biggest buzz.

As part of my job with two German companies, I am involved in proofing English texts, website copy, books etc and so I can read the chapters with that head on as well.

Finally, as a Scot, I may bring a different cultural slant to the way I read, particularly when it concerns money and getting paid, and I always think its worth getting different viewpoints on anything we do.

For me, I would love to get my hands on the book because I am usually inspired and challenged by your writing but I also love being able to use my skills to help others in any way I can – I am currently proofing an acquaintances website, just because I can.

I can easily commit 2 hours per week to this project but if you are saying you need 4 hours per week then I would happily rearrange some things to be part of this project.

    Yours,

    Nick Smith

    Hi David

I can commit 2 to 3 hours per week to editing.

The subject matter is of great interest to me as I am busy developing a Program on Leadership Competency and so would be very interested in acquiring the final product you are working on.

I believe that I could make a contribution by being involved in the process at this stage.

    Regards

    Hi David,

I’m interested in supporting others but also I love the creative process and have been helping artists create for quite some time. I feel that you have valuable insight and information to share via your manuscript and as a coach and personal/spiritual development adventurer I think that I am most likely among your ideal audience, lol.

I am very busy currently launching a new web site and so will only commit to the minimum of four hours a week =)

    Thanks for the invitation!

    Hi David,
What draws me to offer my valuable time to help you out??

    1) You’ve been around doing this quite a while, so you must know something to share with others for sure
    2) I’ve written two books, and I was an English teacher in a former life (haha, I always joke ’cause I’m a natural editor) so I could help you out
    3) My personal quest is to be paid for who I am. Although I’ve been doing it for 9 years, frankly I could be a lot further along considering what I do & how I help people
    4) I believe many people will benefit from hearing the message of being paid for who we are (not just what we do)
    5) The internet is the path to freedom for a great many people
    6) My intuition said I should stop right now & offer to help (despite how busy I am.)

I’m not on your R&D team, not sure how I got the email or if it went out broadcast… but here you go.

    Warmly,
    Pam

    Dave,
In the many interests of my life, reading and learning is high on my list. There are many published writers in my family. I have just completed reading a friend’s pre-published book. I enjoy helping others, hence in this next part of my life I will expand my role of counselor to coach. I hope that my reading will help you as your words have encouraged and motivated me. Whatever your decision, I wish you great luck!

    David:

I would welcome the opportunity to take on the position of reviewing your new book.

I have followed your work for the past 3 years. When I set up my coaching practice early in 2006 I used your Coach Start Manual and many of your other materials to guide me down the path to which I was called. So I know your style very well!

I am fully able to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week to review the material and write back with my feedback — no worries there.

And what do I have to offer you? Among my current ventures is the publication of an E-Magazine for the Personal Development and Spiritual Growth communities where I edit the submissions from the Contributing Writers Group every month. In doing this I am careful to allow the unique voice of each writer to shine through in their piece. You can learn more at http://www.radiantlightsmagazine.webs.com.

I am committed to Empowerment and Authenticity (my Heart Virtues) and being in alignment, I would work to ensure your Authentic self shone in your writing as you seek to empower others through your book.

I also believe my mission: “To Lead and Guide People to Shine their Light in an ever-changing World” is also in alignment with the task you are presenting.

As someone who has studied creative writing, and is also working on a book of his own, I offer you all of my skills and insight so that your offering will be able to effect massive change in the world.

    I trust you will agree.

    Be Good to Yourself.

I would love to review your book and help you in any way I may. I commit to 4-6 hours a week for the next month. I am currently working on an e-class dealing with recognizing and dealing with grief as well as working my way through the first stages of my coaching business. I believe in your work and your straightforward manner. It would honor me to help you with such a wonderful project.

I can give you up to two hours a week. I’m working on my own book, and the intellectual exercise of reviewing and critiquing yours would both be an honor (as an ongoing student of yours) and will quite frankly help me keep my focus on my book. I’ve grown so much because of your classes. It’s time I gave back.

I’d love to help review. I’ve written several books under tight deadline, and edited one or two, so know what it’s like (wrote Using Lotus Notes and other tech books, lots of different levels of editors reviewing). I can do 3-4 hours a week. If you need to hardcopy something, my mail is 531 Hahaione Street #2E, Honolulu HI 96825, or I can get attachments in the above e-mail, or I can receive faxes at 808-395-0060 if you call ahead first.

Why am I interested? I’m a writer, I’m starting up my own e-business(s) and my own coaching business, so of course I’m interested. I want to learn everything I can!

So, what draws me to review YOUR book?
While I’ve only paid a small amount of attention to following you personally, David, I do recall receiving some memorable messages from you. I’m drawn to your persona (you rush about stirring up trouble and you help coaches — which are of course angels placed here on earth for the “rest” of us).

Your animated GIF on this web page highlights your wacky sense of humor.

I love giving feedback. I may have been an editor in a past life.

I’m a busy person — and of course that’s who you always want to ask to get some important work done. Two hours a week (or so ) over the next four weeks (or so) sounds just about right.

I’ve been studying social media, so this sounds like it’s right there in my new niche. While I am NOT a small business owner at this point, you must admit that most folks would cherish the idea of following their bliss and getting paid to be who they are — and I’d put my name at the top of THAT list. So, once I read your book perhaps I’ll reinvent myself.

And best of all. If some of us do a really excellent job of helping you, then perhaps we’ll see our names in lights. Now wouldn’t THAT be fun!

    Hugs,
    Linda
