Free Traffic

The following is a transcription taken from Explode Your Practice.

This takes time – at least 3 months. So you want to do this sooner rather than later. Once you are in the related to anything you want to sell. Then at overture find out which ones are getting searched on. Get your top 5 key words. If you go to Google ads you want to go for all the keywords. But the ones your programmers will put in the Meta tags will be the top 5. You might also, in your excel spreadsheet, say what the product is like, general coaching mission stuff. It’s more complex. But this is the top 3 keywords for this product.

Where to Look For Domain Names

The following is an excerpt from the CoachStart Manual.

You can search for names and variations at www.MyDomainFriend.com — a very powerful free tool.

But don’t register the domain there as it’s a bit expensive.  Once you know the domain(s) you want, go to www.godaddy.com and register a name for only US$9 per year.

You’ll also want to check the name is not trademarked in the country where you’ll do business.

Don’t get discouraged if even the first twenty names you want are taken. This is just the way it is.  Keep being creative and you’ll soon have your perfect domain name.

Choosing Your Domain Name

The following is an excerpt from the CoachStart Manual.

One approach is to choose a domain which describes WHO you work with; e.g., www.babyboomers.com or www.highenergywomen.com.

Another is to choose a domain which describes WHAT problem you solve for them; e.g., www.careerdirection.com, or www.relationshipbliss.com.

You may even be able to fit in both; e.g., www.happymarriage4women.com.

It’s also important to have a name which is ‘search engine friendly’.  For example, I chose www.life-coaching-resource.com and www.lifecoaching.com.au.  Why? Because when people search for ‘life coaching’ in the search engines, the search engines see that I have ‘life coaching’ in the domain name, and decide my site should come up pretty high in the list.  So work out your ‘target key words’ — the words people will use to search for you, and get a domain that contains those words.

But clearly you can’t always do all of the above in one domain name.  Don’t let search engine traffic run you.  A name you like, which is memorable, is key.  And — it’s OK to have two domain names — one which will be attractive to the search engines and one which you really love to tell people.

Pay Per Click Engines

This way costs money, but is much faster to produce initial results. Google’s PPC program is called AdWords, and it is the major program around. Basically, you bid on a search term (e.g. “counseling sessions Melbourne”) and create a little ad that will appear on the right column of the Google search page. The higher you bid, the higher up your ad appears on the page (the higher the better).

It might cost you 5 cents, or $2, for every click (visitor), depending on how much you bid. The trick is to find search terms that your competition hasn’t thought of. That way you can get traffic for 5 cents instead of $2! That’s the difference between making a profit and a loss when it comes to the PPC engines.

A HUGE advantage of PPC engines is that your traffic is so targeted. In the above example, you pay Google only when someone searching for “counseling sessions Melbourne” clicks on your ad. If you’re a counselor in Melbourne, this is EXACTLY your target market, so you have a decent chance of getting a subscriber or client from it.

Ten Reasons Why You Must Increase Your Web Presence

1.) A website works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It’s like having an office or store that is always open for business. Can you imagine how much it would cost to keep your business open 24/7 using a rented space and round-the-clock staff?

2.) Web purchases are increasing!

People are buying more and more over the internet.

3.) Take orders automatically

Wouldn’t you like to check your inbox and find you had two clients sign up overnight? Without you spending 30-60 minutes ‘selling’ them on your services? With the web you can.

4.) Online advertising is cheaper

Compared to other forms of advertising, online advertising can get you a much greater return on your investment.

5.) Interactive marketing

Your website isn’t just a print article. It’s a rich multimedia experience with print, pictures, audio, and even video! People can click to read the information they are most interested in, and even fill in short quizzes. This interactive experience increases the chance they will actually purchase from you.

6.) Automated contact!

You can’t have a print ad send people 20 follow-up emails providing them with items of interest, automatically. You can with the web!

7.) Slash your marketing time.

A website is a hugely COST-EFFECTIVE form of marketing. You can explain your services and/or products and answer the most frequently asked questions on your website just once. Imagine all the time you’ll save not having to answer the same questions over and over again!

8.) Reach a worldwide audience

You can now reach a worldwide audience more economically, across every time-zone.

9.) Create additional income streams

Once you have a consistent stream of targeted visitors, you might start selling advertising on your site, or promoting other people’s products.

10.) Want media attention?

Journalist often do online research and find people to interview after studying their websites.
