join me in 3 months meditation

Posted by David Wood |

After 38 years I’ve decided to meditate.

10 minutes a day, for 3 months.

To see what happens.

To see what I gain. And what I lose.

My aim is to learn to enjoy nothing happening. To see what’s beneath all the bustle.

What’s your aim?

If you’ve ever thought of meditating, or just feel called to try something new – then join me.

We can support each other in this practice, and share our experiences along the way.

HOW TO JOIN
a) Declare it in the comments section below or use this quick link:

http://www.solutionbox.com/meditate

(Save this link)

b) Send a blank email to david38-195055@autocontactor.com so you’ll
get any relevant emails from me during the 3 months.

GUIDANCE

1) We started Monday Sep 11 2006, finishing Dec 11, 2006

2) Start today, whenever you have come.

3) I’m aiming for 20 minutes each morning, but with a minimum of 10. 10 is fine.

4) Put a calendar plainly visible on a wall. (I printed off September to December from Outlook). Tick off each day as you do it.

5) If you miss a day, make it up with two meditations the next day.

6) Post your commitment here on the blog, and share your experiences along the way.
[SAVE THIS LINK so you can come back regularly: www.solutionbox.com/meditate]

7) If you like, invite your friends to also join you and declare. It will be more fun, and you’ll have a greater support structure to see it through. Send them to www.solutionbox.com/meditate

Finally, here are the words that inspired me to start:

“Nothing should happen in meditation. Meditation teaches you to value what is! And not to desire what is not. It points you to Here and now, silence, peace and innocence (nature), towards life it self.

Start more and more enjoying the quiet and nothing happening!

Sit in meditation, for 10 or 20 minutes everyday. A good time is in the morning just before you get up: Sit up in the bed or in a chair for 10 or 20 minute in meditation. Close the eyes and do nothing, just allow the mind, the thoughts to be somewhere in the passive snoring there for a little while longer. And enjoy nothing happening!”
(Taken from www.dolano.com)

* * *

What are you waiting for? I’ve already started – 10 minutes this morning.

See you in nothing 😉

David

When I meditate it is on something – not nothing. The bible gives me God’s word. To clear the mind is to open oneself to the wrong spiritual forces.

I did it! It was hard to be still but I did it! At first I noticed how much my dog barks at the people walking by.
I was wishing he would be still with me and then he did. We both feel asleep and now I feel like I have more energy. He followed me into the office and is now sleeping under my chair. I guess he needs more than 20 min.

    Thanks- Sheila Barker

Hi David, Thank you for your invitation to meditate for 20 minutes each day. It comes at a no better time, I have done meditation on/off for years but never made a real commitment, today I will. My mother died on Saturday (9th) and today (11th) I am at the ‘guilt’ stage of grieving, what a wonderful day to begin something so personal and deep. I will take 20 mins and meditate this evening, then 10mins each morning and 10 each night. I look forward to be part of this ‘thought’ful group 🙂

To master anything what is required is spaced repetition and immersion. Meditation is no exception, and I recommend to youself David and everyone else is a meditation retreat for total immersion. The most enjoyable one I went on was a ten day vipassana retreat in Thailand, were I clocked up over 100 hours of meditation in 10 days, with a strict code of silence. leaps and bounds can be made in these 10 days and it is the cheapest holiday you will ever go on!
two tips from me is concentrate on the breath and dont even try and stop the chatter of the mind as that will drive you crazy!
Just dissacociate yourself from the thoughts and become a silent witness to them. beyourpotential.biz

To get to a more centered and less mindshatter place in the Now, just listen to your heartbeat… Feel how it beats in your chest. Then move to your head with your attention and take your time to be aware of your heartbeat. Then move on to your stomach. Keep getting more and more aware of your heartbeat all over your body. Be one with your heart and notice that your not alone and you are a connected living being. All is one. Equal in the silence.. No mindshatter around! I just love it!!

I have been meditaing for years, I can join you for sure, I do it everyday, (7 days a week, unless I saved a life that day, I give myself 30 minutes of metime 🙂 so I guess that means I was with you in spirit already.
In my understanding, meditaion isn’t about becoming nothing, it’s resisting the urge to run away from everything that comes up in the act of standing still (or sitting, whatever works for you) while still moving forward, from the inside…out. I practice letting my thoughts run, letting the chatter come up, letting the worry come up, letting all the human ego come up, and sit still with it…let it rise so that I can choose to interact with my NOW, by resisting the urge to stop, and do somethingelse, because it’s not always comfortable to let it go, let it run wild in the brain pan… I think of it as my moment of silence, letting go of my human need for resistence to the eternal flow of truth and reality.

So I don’t try to stop the chatter that is what we do in daily life, avoid the chatter of the world, what I do is relax INTO the stress, lean into what is, so that I may become what I need/want to be for the day. Yes, it’s very much like hitting the reset button on the old human computer…I’m in!
Here’s to a nothingness that is all encompassing!

How about we meditate in the context that all who are meditating here declare in the beginning of each mediation that is to the prosperity to ourselves (the meditator) and all who are meditating with us on this blog. And on December 11th see if we as a whole experience greater prosperity during this period? Wouldn’t that be an interesting experiment on the collective consciousness? I will start today declaring additional prosperity for all of you and myself. Robert Bohen

Hi. I’ve meditated off (mostly off) and on for 35 years. I find these things helpful:

    1. Set a timer. Then, if you doze off, you’ll still be on time for work.
    2. Focus on a nonsense syllable. I was given a “mantra” which is two syllables and two notes. Saying that faster and faster puts me in deep meditation. It also blocks out the “mind chatter.”
    3. When your mind is chattering, be gentle with yourself. Just go back to your mantra. Treat your mind (ego) like the little child that it is.
    4. If you are extra tired, meditation can actually be a good substitute for sleep. I take a 20 minute meditation if I have only slept 5 hours or less.
    5. Choose a position that is comfortable and block out this time just for you. Delightful!

I’m happy to join you in this David, and will in fact invite the 2300 members of my Web site http://TotalLifeSuccess.com to join us.

You hit the nail on the head for me David, as I’ve been thinking about resuming my habit of meditation for some time. It’s always more fun doing something as a group so this will be a great support.

    Great idea!

I already do a sound meditation for an hour every day. It does make a difference.

Okay. It’s something that I’ve often thought about. It’s amazing how I never have 10 minutes to spare in a 24 hour day. I’m committed.

Here is some extra guidance if you would like it:

    1) Starting Monday Sep 11 2006, finishing Dec 11, 2006

    2) If you’ve come after we’ve started, then start today. (If you like you can do morning and night to catch up, but it’s not necessary)

    3) I’m aiming for 20 minutes each morning, but will do a minimum of 10. 10 is fine.

    4) Put a calendar plainly visible on a wall. (I printed off September to December from Outlook). Tick off each day as you do it.

    5) If you miss a day, make it up with two meditations the next day.

    6) Post your commitment here in this comments section, and share your experiences along the way.

    7) If you like, invite your friends to also join you and declare. It will be more fun, and you’ll have a greater support structure to see it through. Send them to http://www.solutionbox.com/meditate
