Day 12: Invited Tanja K. who filled in a survey on my website and won this month’s prize draw of a fantasy pc game using biofeedback. She stated in the survey that she would consider trying a coaching session to relieve stress. I’m waiting on her reply.

I was on the call today with Travis Greenlee but my phone kept cutting out so missed most of it, but I did hear David’s idea about coming out with “I want to coach you” and my reaction was that it was too scary for me to try, since I’ve never had a paying client before. I’m still actually having problems sticking to the format of an exploratory session. I end up doing a whole session and then forgetting to ask if they would like to make further progress by setting them up in a coaching structure.

I invited Heather A today. She is a working mom with a newborn and 4 yo. She is feeling the stress of working full time AND being a mom. Like others, she is looking for balance. We are setting something up for later in the week.

I invited a friend of mine from India… decided it would be good to expand my client base in other countries. She accepted and we will have our first session next week on Wednesday.

I have 2 intro sessions coming up on Wednesday from invites that went out over the past few days. One other friend signed up for 3 months of coaching and received his agreements today. The intake session is Tuesday.

I offered a session to a former HS buddy who is an attorney in a large law firm – he’s the point person for new attorney development. I told him he might know of someone who wants to accelerate the learning curve and by experiencing coaching first hand, he could explain what coaching is about. I let him know that I support leaders in new roles to leverage their strengths. They then lead themselves forward. Waiting to hear back.

I also have two more sample sessions set up. I let them know what my fees are up front. That felt good to get that out of the way BEFORE the session.

Congratulations, Elisabeth–just saw your posting above mine! Way to go!
Today’s shout out goes to…Felicia. Felicia and I met a couple months ago and I invited her to join another group I’m part of. Then, last week I invited her to attend an event I’m hosting. Today, she declined that invitation, so I asked her if she would be interested in a coaching arrangement. I invited her because she is a marketing executive and I coach several women who are in leadership roles in marketing companies. It’s a long shot, but who knows?

    Success!!!

    Today I’m REALLY psyched!

First, I invited my neighbor Shirley, or rather, I was trying to. I started telling her about my new coaching activities and that I was looking to schedule people and she immediately said she wanted me to coach her! No exploratory session needed.

Part of that is that we know each other fairly well, and I know the history of the issue she wants to work on, but still… I’m stunned and delighted. And she’ll pay me $100 for 4 weekly sessions/month. In fact, I’ll have to follow up with her to set up the specific times we’ll want to work.

I told Shirley that this was the basic introductory plan, and that for an upcharge she could get the deluxe version with an extra short support call or two and/or email(s)… So there’ll even be room for growth.

So from that I went to my first official exploratory session phone call with Colleen, which went very well (I think), and she signed on as client number 2 (also for $100/month).

So I got my first two paying clients!!! Yippie!

And tonight’s call with David will be just in time since now I need to figure out in a big hurry how to get the two of them (and future clients) properly set up!

    Thank you 🙂

Hello, all! Today’s invite goes to…Carol J. (sounds like a prize, doesn’t it? I guess it is!). Carol and I cross paths often at local networking events, and we just like each other. I appreciate what she does and have referred her to others, and would like to help her get to her next level, whatever that is for her. I’ll let you know what she says.

Update: Joel D. (from 10/30 invite) called today to accept my invitation and will email me some dates. Also, Laura F stood me up again! I’m thinking I should just let it go. Thoughts?

Wendy, thank you for inspiring me to track my progress!

Day 11: I was quite please with myself. At a conference I was able to group coach three people! It was amazing and they loved it!!

Day12: friend called me up over the weekend to ask a question and I prompted her for a coaching session , I gave some dates – we had our coaching session today, at first she was sceptical after the session. She was so keen to have me as her coach.

    Also had another fantastic session that latested over an hour! The client feed back was;

You have made me specific about my intentions and goals in life.I loved the probing questions and felt very pleased with what she has achieved by just setting goals and coming up with action plans.

Day 12: I followed up with Mark. He declined the offer as he just begun therapy.

Today, I’ve invited Stacey, a cousin. She has been doing a happiness blog and has been really focusing on positive thinking and has made some huge transitions in her own life this year and has credited me and my positive attitude as being a big influence for her. 🙂 So, she is excited to accept an exploratory session! She is so focused on the election tomorrow and promoting voting, that we’ll talk on Wednesday to schedule a time.

Don’t forget tonight’s call! Same line as before. I just sent out the reminder.

Helena, I love how you say you are open to signals that it might be a good time to invite someone.

Jan – that’s right. You can keep doing this, it’s a great habit to get into.

Julie – the reason it has a far away date is so we can keep it more private and it won’t be in front of the blog.

Patty has a great idea, keeping an invitation email in Outlook drafts and personalizing it according the the person. In Gmail there is a lab that lets you do quick links on the site that go to whichever posts you want. So you can have a link to your invitation email. Also keep a set up email (we will talk more about client set up today)

As far as posting times go, as long as we see one from you every day you are good. (If we see a post on the same day but vastly different times that would count). Sure putting the date on top of your post would be helpful.

Thanks for all your great information Wendy!

My invite today went to Dr. Richard L., a cardiologist I met several years ago during a health episode of my own. This doesn’t represent a huge niche for me, but I would like to make my coaching available to people facing challenges from coronary disease as I have some personal experience in that area.

Hope the challenge is still going well for everyone. Don’t we have a call tonight with Travis Greenlee?

Todays (Nov. 3rd) invitation went to Ulrica. She is resently divorced, even more recently moved to a new home. So big changes going on in her life and she is a bit unsure of her direction. In other words a person I could easily help through coaching.
In a few days time I hope to be posting the responces to my invitations, once I’ve got the chance to follow them up, as most of them have been through e-mail.
I am so happy to take part in this challenge. It keeps me moving with regard to my coaching business even when circumstances (sick kids) throws me off track. Even if I for one reason or another don’t have (or take) the opportunity to meet with people of give them invitations by calling them, I at least get one or more e-mails out every day. So when I am back on track it will feel really natural and quite effortless to get on the phone and follow up on all the prep work already done by the e-mail invitations.
With this challenge I am also learning to always be open for signals that people I encounter might be good clients and consider giving them an invitation for a trial session. Hopefully this will have become such a habit after 30 days that I will continue with this mindset also after the challenge.

Had a delightful session this morning with Dorothy who runs workshops in creative art expression and theater and is looking to expand. We had a great connection and she’d definitely be one of my ideal clients as she has such a fun energy and willingness to grow. She felt wonderful about the possibilities and was going to see how she can manage her finances to go for a 6 month program. I feel really happy about connecting with her.
This evening I had a session with Nico, who just finished his medical studies and now isn’t so sure if this is what he really wants to do. His doubts keep him off track. he felt a lot more clarity after our session and is interested in working together.

I am coming to the realisation that it is time to get a group coaching program set up as I have a lot of people interested and the group fees make it more accessible; I’ve just been keeping it off due to travel plans and not being sure of when to offer these classes. What a gremlin that is:-)

    Well…next assignment!
I invited Lorili for a session tomorrow because she is expanding her business and is fun to work with.

    blessings,

Hello again. David, I was wondering if you could comment on the following. I can’t figure out if it is that my gremlins are hollering at me while I make invitations for sample sessions, (and therefore I should go ahead and do it anyway), or if it actually is not a good use of my time to be asking friends and family to do sample sessions on the off chance that they will know someone in my niche. Would it not be a better use of time to be developing strategic alliances with organizations that can provide us with a steady stream of clients rather than asking people to do sample sessions one at a time?

I called up my friend, Marty, today who lives 3000 miles away and who I haven’t spoken to in about a year. After chatting for a while, I told her what I was up to and invited her to a sample session. She said she had a friend who did coaching so she was very familiar with it and declined my invitation, but she referred me to an organization that she has been involved with for years that is in my niche.

I invited A, my niece, a young mom living across the country, as she was her visiting family. I was responding to her question, “How’s your life coaching business going?” I didn’t use David’s spiel formula. She said, “No.” Because she is close family I wouldn’t coach her. But I want to do an intro session with her and ask her to refer people to me. . . So maybe I call her later & ask again? At any rate, I sure appreciate the effective tool David gave us.

Yesterday I spent the day working on a new business plan, and taking care of the kids. My wife and I are working on something that we think is going to be a real difference maker, and I am hoping to release it here on the 30 day challenge within a couple of weeks. My wife sent out to invitations on my behalf yesterday, and I sent one email to a teenaged boy who took a picture at the lake outside my back yard. There was 400 geese on our smal lake yesterday (they’ve been flying through for a couple of months, migrating south for the winter) On this particular day, the lake was half frozen, with little breaks in the ice. This kid took these pictures. http://www.flickr.com/photos/upload/ I ran across the field to ask him to send me a copy. He was very shy, and I told him I thought he had a keen eye for photgraphy. We’ll see where it goes, I feel like I made a difference to him

Dr. Lorrie, something that has helped me keep sessions to 30-40 minutes (I advertise 30 min.) is sending my client a form to help them focus on their accomplishments that week and on their goal for our session together. That helps us start off quickly with a contract under our belt & we’re off & running. Also, I love to follow “rabbit tracks.” But it helps me keep more focused, knowing I don’t have time to fiddle around.

I’m sure interested in learning more about group coaching too.

Day 11 – Offered a comp session to a friend of a Friend – Michelle M – who is struggling to set and achieve any goals. Couldn’t get her on the phone so emailed – she came back saying she’s “abit overwhelmed at the moment so will be in touch as soon as I can clear my mind and be prepared to start a new program and can focus on it” …. mmm, I guess that’s the problem with email, it can be misinterpreted. Will chase her up on the phone to clarity…. is she’s overwhelmed this is exactly what she needs!

Wendy–Thanks for ALL the great info. You are really a God send.

Your post about asking reminded me of what happened this summer when I went to Costa Rica on holiday. I wanted to fly at least 1 leg of the trip first class for free. So, every time I checked in, I’d ask if there was any way I could get a free upgrade. LA to Houston-No, Houston to Costa Rica-No, Costa Rica to Houston-No, then when I got to the gate, my friend says “Hey, they just announced free 1st class upgrades to anyone willing to go to Ontario, Ca. instead”, then she leaves and boards the plane. My mind was search like crazy who I could call to pick me up in Ontario and take me to Palm Springs. I really wanted to sleep in my own bed after traveling for two and a half weeks. My car was down in Dana Point at my friends house. I called another friend, she said she was going to Orange County the next day and would take me to get my car. She’d love the company. She wasn’t feeling so well, but would pick me up at the airport, and I’d owe her BIG time. Planes were boarding, changed my ticket, ran to my new flight thinking that I really don’t want to owe any one BIG time. I sit in my first class seat next to a handsome man about my age and ask so where are you heading, etc. He said he’d been in Florida visiting his daughter and was heading home to La Quinta. “Oh, I live in Palm Springs. I’m on your way home. Would you mind giving me a ride?” He said, “Sure, no problem.” As they were shutting the door on the plane, I called my friend that I got a ride and I’d see her tomorrow when we went to Orange County. We had so much fun laughing and talking the entire plane ride home. I got to fly first class, met a really nice man, and sleep in my own bed. I love my life.

Today, I talked with Rita. She has financial challenges and wants to lose weight. She said she’d love a free session. We set it up for next Sat.

Day 11: Just did an intro session with L., the HR coach who is doing many things to increase her business income but is not getting the results she’s seeking. I’m not sure if I was any help to her, and in fact I felt out of my depth, but we decided we would get together again for an NLP session (another free one as I’ve only just completed my NLP training and am still learning how to integrate it into my coaching practice).

Today I emailed Melissa W. who is director of the Fit and Well program at a local university campus. She has previously contacted me after seeing a story about a stress management coaching group I was offering in the local library, to see if I would be interested in doing workshops for students and staff on campus. I’ve invited her to an intro session because I want her to experience coaching herself before I decide what to do about the workshops.

I have followed up with two people today that were referred by current clients and offered them a complimentary introductiory session. Both Corrine and Nicole are at career crossroads. My niche is solidifying.

The other ah-ha that came to me today was this – if I can offer someone an introductory session every day for 30 days during this challenge, why not continue it for ANOTHER 30 DAYS! I love it!

Day 11: Extended an invitation to SB via email to an old client who I’ve been out of touch with to reconnect and explore what’s going on for him.

I also extended a few invites via phone…one to SF a Shaklee Distributor who I know from networking who had expressed interest the last conversation I had with her about some of the coaching I do in regards to developing instinct and intuition for better business results. The second to ED a local business development coach who is navigating some change in his business with his partner. Both were unavailable so I left messages. I anticipate being able to catch up with them over the next few days.

Day 11: Today I made an invite to Lisa, she owns a hair and nail salon. I’ve actually done some work with her on marketing last year. So, I offered an exploratory session and she said yes, and she had time today, so we did it today! It went well, and we will be talking this week about working together.

I did not directly ask for the “sale” because I’m not sure I actually want to coach her. This is the first one that I really felt that. Maybe because I’ve worked with her on other projects and as much as I like her, she would be a challenge client to keep her on track and on time. 🙂 But maybe she is the perfect client to really improve my skills!

Today, my sister was dealing with trying to obtain balance in her life. i told her she should try a sample session and see if she got a different prespective on things. She agreed to try one next week. She is a teacher and has a vast sphere of influence. So even though I don’t really see her as a client for me per say, she would be great to work as a recruiter for my business.

Well, this challenge is just crazy! Every day I say I’m not going to make invitations today, invitation opportunities just show up.

I went for my daily walk this afternoon, and as I was getting back toward home, I came across a block party – in New Jersey, in November! It wasn’t my block, but because I walk this block every day, I know a lot of the people, so I got invited over and met many of the rest.

I didn’t have business cards or my planner or anything on me, because I was just out for my (usually solo) walk, but suddenly there I was with all these people asking about what I do, including two who were interested for themselves. So I invited J, who sees herself “one day” doing creative work, and M, who I’ve known for years but who didn’t realize I coach artists – he’s a part-time professional who’d love to be full-time “if only”.

    Total invitations so far: 22
    Sessions scheduled: 4 / Sessions delivered: 3
    New clients: 1 / Pending: 2
    Money collected: $250

It’s not the most targeted launch for my services, but it’s the first book launch I’ve been a part of. Once I have the back-end set up on my web site, I’ll be able to go after others, especially ones more closely related to what I do.

Today I invited Carla who is coming over on the 11th:-) She has been looking for a way to let go of what no longer works easier so this is perfect!
I had a session with renate today and she is in the process of taking on a new role in her company and dealing with doubts and getting out of her rational mind, overthinking.
She wanted to let this session settle in and is interested in ongoing coaching.
Then also had a session with Bruno who was dealing with some physical challenges and we had such a fun connection and moved some obstacles, that he felt very thankful and wanting to tell everyone about me:-)
He had received my invitation from a friend, who had forwarded it.
The best part about these past however many days… is connecting with people from all over the world! All over Europe, in the US, Singapore, and South America…I love the way the internet connects us all:-)

Todays (Nov.2nd) invitation went to Tanja. Tanja was one of the exhibitors at an exhibition I visited today. During a conversation with her (she showed paintings that transcended some amazing energy) I found out that she is working on some major changes in her life, allowing her to focus more on her art. I then of course invited her to a trial session and she accepted. We are to talk on Friday to schedule the session.

Does anyone else wonder why it says “August 13, 2007” at the beginning of the postings? Just curious.
Today I invited Lynne. My friend coaches through an executive coaching and outplacement company and recommended me to Lynne, who does the hiring of contract coaches. Lynne asked to see my resume. So today, I emailed Lynne with an inquiry and offered to do a sample session so she could see what it would be like to coach with me.
I also got a lead from MY coach–who has been awesome w/ referrals. So, hopefully, that will be a future post.
I also want to offer encouragement to folks who are feeling like the economy is impacting our ability to get clients. My experience has been that some people who might have previously said yes, will not say no AND some people who may have previously said no will say yes–they will need our support and championing more than ever. Stay the course!!

Oops – I sent that without finishing the link to the book launch – http://www.DonnaSozio.com/prizes.html and http://www.DonnaSozio.com/coupons.html.

I’m The Prosperous Artist – look for my logo and you’ll see my bonuses there.

It’s not the most targeted launch for my services, but it’s the first book launch I’ve been a part of. Once I have the back-end set up on my web site, I’ll be able to go after others, especially ones more closely related to what I do.

I e-mailed the prep work to K, the camp director who scheduled a session yesterday. She e-mailed her responses back within a couple of hours. My new client B also finished his prep work for our first paid session in record time. Seems I’ve been attracting some folks who are really ready for what I’m offering, and committed to getting maximum value from it!

Today is a major project day. I offered a bonus that’s featured on an Amazon book launch that starts tomorrow (www.DonnaSozio.com/, so I need to get the sign-up & download pages for the bonus up today! My bonus is a free session offer, so will hopefully lead to some requests for sessions over the next week or so.

Also need to write a blog entry to promote the launch, and e-mail the people I sent gift certificates to for their events. One of those events took place yesterday, so I hope to get some calls from it soon.

Everybody enjoy your weekend and go share your gifts!

Today I called & left voicemail for my long lost cousin R, who runs a B&B. It felt very good and appropriate to leave him a complete invite message.
    (H m m m maybe we’d exchange coaching for B&B?)

Good morning, all! Today’s invitation is to Michelle B., a marketing consultant I’ve known for a while but had lost touch with. She had been popping into my mind, and I’ve always liked and admired her, so I just sent her an email invitation. I’ll let you know how she responds.

By the way, to streamline my process, I created a basic invitation email that I keep in my Outlook Drafts file, then when I have someone to invite, I customize it and off I go! It is saving me from “recreating the wheel” every time, everything gets covered, and each person’s message is still personalized to them.

I can see that I will be needing to follow up on some of these email invitations with a phone call, and that is my least favorite thing to do! That said, I am committed to this process, and committed to breaking out of my comfort zone. All of you are inspiring me to do this, and I am grateful!

    Till tomorrow,
    Patty @ Life by Design.biz

Did I miss posting on Halloween? oops.. I am still rolling along though. I invited two people today. One a past pro Hockey player who is transitioning to his new life. Met his wife at my nephews birthday party. She was so excited that she made him come by to meet me. Invited him for a session, and I would say he is 90% in. His wife would make a wonderful coach too. i will invite her shortly. I also invited a lovely waitress where my wife and I ate at our dinner out tonight. That one was less sure, but definately in spirit, and catching momentum. Feels really good!!!

Hey, Beth – a couple of people have mentioned the midnight thing, and time zone differences between this page and our own local times. I’ve been assuming that my “day”, for posting purposes, goes from when I wake up to when I go to bed, even if I’m up past midnight. Is that not the case?

Can you clarify for us what “counts” re posting times?

Would it help you in tracking our posts if we put the date at the top of each posting? (I.e., if it’s 11/1 for me, but might be 10/31 or 11/2 according to blog time or the midnight standard, and I put 11/1 in my message, you’d be able to tell more easily whether I posted every day or missed one.)

By the way, I second what Suzanne said – I love and appreciate that you seem to be reading every post, and your thoughtful responses and great service to us. Thanks!

One more thing (up *way* past my bedtime!):

I started reading Mitch Meyerson’s “Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars”, and right in the first chapter, Mark Victor Hansen said some stuff about asking that I thought was written just for us! He wrote (the ALL CAPS are mine):
    ________________________________________

‘I’m often asked … “How does one go about creating a million-dollar business?” The truth is, when you take control of your life by ASKING for what you want and need, you can accomplish *anything* your heart desires. No doubt, you know of people who seem to walk into any situation … expecting success. They achieve success again and again because they’ve learned, and acted on, one simple truth: You will reach your goals only with the help of others.

‘There are some common characteristics shared between people who have mastered the art of ASKING:

    – They know what they want. They are clear about their vision, purpose, and goals.
    – They believe that what they’re asking for is very possible.
    – They are passionate about what they are requesting.
    – They act even when they’re afraid or feel fear.
    – They learn from experience so that they become better “askers” every time they ask.
    – They are persistent. If at first they don’t receive, they ASK, ASK, ASK until they do.’
    ________________________________________

I especially related to the line about becoming a better “asker” with each experience.

Hi, Dr. Lorrie, and anyone else interested in these questions.

Free teleconference lines: there are many services out there – you can google “free teleconference” and find one that suits you. Many use http://www.freeconference.com.

Starting a blog: I just researched this and started one about 10 days ago. I came to the conclusion that the best way, for all sorts of reasons, was to install WordPress on my web site and run it on my site (at http://www.TheProsperousArtist.com/blog). Again if you google “install WordPress” you’ll find some good references on how to do this. If your web host has Fantastico, you can use that to install WP pretty much automatically – that’s what I did.

Your blog will have a default, basic look (see mine and you’ll see what mean), until you select (or design) a template for it. WordPress and other sites offer many, many templates to choose from (google “free WordPress templates”), and some are customizable, so you can use your own logo and make it look unique. I wanted to get mine up quickly, so I’ll sort out the template thing later on. Getting it started is the important thing – you can worry about the details later.

If you don’t have a web site or want an easier way to start a blog, you can set one up for free on one of the many blog hosting services, like WordPress (www.WordPress.com? .net? .org? I forget) or Google’s Blogger (www.blogspot.com). But all serious bloggers recommend against it. If your blog is at all successful, which is presumably what you’re after, you’ll want to host it on your own site eventually, and it’s way more costly (in time, money, energy, and lost traffic) to move it later on than to set it up that way in the first place.

And if you don’t have your own web site, honestly, get one! I use http://www.Lunarpages.com. I think they currently have a deal for about $120 for two years ($4.95/mo). They have Fantastico, WordPress, most of what you’ll ever need, you can host multiple sites on the one account, and they’ll even register your first domain name for free. I’ve been with them for years – they’re great.

(I get my domains at http://www.1and1.com for $7.99/domain – cheaper than GoDaddy, and includes private registration at no additional charge.)

Technically I missed today because I was traveling. It’s just after midnight and I invited my brother to a session. He can be a referral person for me if he understands how coaching applies to people. He hasn’t responded yet. Thanks David, this is getting easier. We visited my daughter at college today and when she told me that some of her friends were leaving their schools because they didn’t like them, I encouraged her to offer them free sessions.

    Woohoo! Another red letter day.

J from Sunday’s open studio didn’t call me as he was scheduled to do, and I was on the road without his phone number, so I’ll call him tomorrow.

I was scheduled to do a number of things today including the call with J, a local evening event where I *might* have met potential clients, though it wasn’t particularly targeted, and a 3-hour meeting in Massachusetts (260 miles from here in NJ) in the afternoon, which I’d intended to participate in by phone. But I woke up in the morning with the clear message that I needed to attend the Massachusetts meeting in person.

It’s a completely un-coaching / un-arts-related group I’m part of, and I used to diligently attend the quarterly meetings, even though they take the whole day for me with the 500+ miles of driving and cost close to $100 in transport expenses. But I haven’t been to one in about a year-and-a-half, and the organization (summer camp I attend annually) is undergoing a complete leadership change, and I felt it was too important for me to meet the new leaders and committee members not to attend.

So I got myself together quickly, grabbed food for the car, drove like a maniac to get there on time, and knew the instant I got there it was absolutely the right choice for me. The meeting was great, the new leaders are awesome, and it was wonderful and necessary for me and the 200 or so people I represent for me to begin developing a relationship with them today.

And here’s the kicker: the new camp director is an artist, and when I told her what I do, she practically begged me to invite her to do a session. We scheduled one for Friday.

So not only was it a great meeting and the right decision for all sorts of un-30DC-related reasons, but it turned out to be the right place to be for the challenge as well! (And I can write off the trip on my taxes – very nice.)

    Total invitations so far: 20
    Sessions scheduled: 4 / Sessions delivered: 3
    New clients: 1 / Pending: 2
    Money collected: $250

    Hi All,

I have had first session with 2 paying clients, and they both were about 90 minutes long. How do you keep them 15-30 minutes? This isn’t going to work for me or them if I keep that up.

Also, I am really interested in doing group sessions, and would like to talk to you who are doing them. Need help with logistics. How to set up a blog and free teleconference phone lines. Please call 760-328-1698 or email me at lorrielauer@juno.com–or post here for others to see.

Late yesterday, I finally talked with Darlene. She’s so busy she didn’t want to commit. She had just found out she had an additional pay cut 20% cut two weeks ago, and another 20% today. She was in a panic mode and didn’t want to talk. Will approach again next week.

Today, I talked with Sylvia. She’s friendly and enthusiastic with lots of friends. She recently retired and has everything she wants she said. Invited her. She said she didn’t need coaching at this time. I was surprised when Darlene and Sylvia didn’t accept. I forgot to ask for referrals. I will call them tomorrow and ask for referrals.

Day 10: Today I had my first regular session with Karen and it went very well. I also followed up with my friend Susan a small business owner, she is not sure about it and had some anxiety just thinking about being so candid with someone as she grew up with the idea that she should keep things private not public… so I will continue to just listen and chat with her as a friend. 🙂

My new invite for today went to my cousin, Mark. He is finishing up his dissertation and having some questions as to what to do next. I had to leave him a message, so I will follow up with him soon.

He didn’t know when would be a good time yet (this weekend isn’t), but we’ll figure out a good time within the next few days I’m sure. Of course the time difference makes it a bit challenging. By the time he gets off work, I’m generally asleep.

Day 9: Not much happening today. My session scheduled for today with Susan Z needed to be rescheduled because she had a time conflict. I was proud that I actually got another day scheduled instead of just leaving it with “let’s talk next week” as I sometimes do. We’re going to talk next Thursday.

I was pretty busy with life and a non-profit I volunteer for. I did, however, use some down time, here and there, to go through my contact list and I’ve added a few more people to contact. So I still have the possibility of a contract with Lori, a session with Doris and Susan Z, and a lot of people I haven’t contacted yet.

Today I invited Judy via email. I invited her because a month or so ago she said she was interested in coaching with me, but I have not been able to nail her down. I asked that we schedule a sample session as soon as possible to help her think about her goals for next year with life & work (she is considering both a divorce and a career change, so a lot on her plate!)

I had sent out a note to former and existing clients with this as part of the content: “Who do you know that would be open to talking about the number one change they want to make in their life or work? Perhaps they’re stuck and haven’t been able to manifest the change they want. They might even be going through a major transition and want to re-invent themselves. ”

A former client, Scott, popped into my mind this morning before I got on email. ‘Coincidentally’ (or not) there was a note from him introducing me to a colleague, Linda, who is thinking about a career transition, my niche that seems to be speaking to me more and more. I contacted her directly and invited her to a free trial session. Waiting for a reply. I’ll keep ya ‘posted’ – literally!

Meanwhile a friend of mine asked for a session when I told her what I was doing. I coached my first person today – my sister.
