{"id":1334,"date":"2012-04-18T12:00:22","date_gmt":"2012-04-18T18:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/life-coaching-resource.com\/blog\/?p=1334"},"modified":"2012-02-01T22:51:46","modified_gmt":"2012-02-02T04:51:46","slug":"choosing-your-domain-name","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.life-coaching-resource.com\/blog\/choosing-your-domain-name\/","title":{"rendered":"Choosing Your Domain Name"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The following is an excerpt from the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.coachstart.com\/\">CoachStart Manual<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One approach is to choose a domain which describes WHO you work with; e.g., www.babyboomers.com or www.highenergywomen.com.<\/p>\n<p>Another is to choose a domain which describes WHAT problem you solve for them; e.g., www.careerdirection.com, or www.relationshipbliss.com.<\/p>\n<p>You may even be able to fit in both; e.g., www.happymarriage4women.com.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also important to have a name which is \u2018search engine friendly\u2019.\u00a0 For example, I chose <a href=\"http:\/\/www.life-coaching-resource.com\">www.life-coaching-resource.com<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifecoaching.com.au\">www.lifecoaching.com.au<\/a>.\u00a0 Why? Because when people search for \u2018life coaching\u2019 in the search engines, the search engines see that I have \u2018life coaching\u2019 in the domain name, and decide my site should come up pretty high in the list. \u00a0So work out your \u2018target key words\u2019 \u2014 the words people will use to search for you, and get a domain that contains those words.<\/p>\n<p>But clearly you can\u2019t always do all of the above in one domain name.\u00a0 Don\u2019t let search engine traffic run you.\u00a0 A name you like, which is <em>memorable, <\/em>is key.\u00a0 And \u2014 it\u2019s OK to have two domain names \u2014 one which will be attractive to the search engines and one which you really love to tell people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following is an excerpt from the\u00a0CoachStart Manual.
