Say you live in Maryland; instead of “financial planner,”\u00a0which has SO MUCH competition, focus on “financial planner\u00a0Maryland”, “financial goals Maryland”, or “pension plan\u00a0specialist”. You’ll have better luck.<\/p>\n
2) File names<\/p>\n
Have key words in your web page file names: e.g. call your\u00a0page financialplanning.htm<\/p>\n
3) Key word frequency<\/p>\n
Have your key words make up about 5% of words on the page.<\/p>\n
4) Hyperlinks<\/p>\n
Have your key words in the hyperlinks (the text that’s\u00a0clickable) on your page<\/p>\n
5) Alt Tags<\/p>\n
These are in your html code and provide a description on\u00a0your pictures for browsers that don’t show pictures. Yep –\u00a0you guessed it – keywords in here too.<\/p>\n
6) Reciprocal Links<\/p>\n
Have DOZENS of web sites linking to your site. (I’ve only got\u00a0about 100 linking to one of my main sites, and it’s currently\u00a0#3 on Google for my major key word). Even better, when they\u00a0link to you, have them put your keywords,e.g., “financial\u00a0planner” IN the text of the link!<\/p>\n
7) Focus mainly on Google and Yahoo<\/p>\n
