Well, we all have a story, and here is mine:

I grew up a very timid, shy, repressed kid. I’m not totally sure why, I was always like that, but my childhood helped me find “reason” to cut links and attachments to the people around me, so as I got older, I was feeling more and more isolated, and less and less confident. I grew displeased with a culture that is quick to label, and hard to connect with. I was raised with bad eating and personal habits, which actually did much more damage to my psyche than I had ever thought! On top of that I found out that I’d been born with a birth defect that had been the source of chronic pain for over 10 years.

It’s taken me a long time to find the keys to mental and physical openness and happiness; keys to spiritual balance, mind/body wellness, and learning to love to eat to live rather than eating to die.

I’ve found my way out of many self-depreciating habits, as well as mental habits. I am a Reiki Master and natural healer, working towards holistic nutrition. What I have to give back, is these same keys I have found, in a simpler, easy to access format. I wish to help women “go out and get” that which Truly makes them happy in life, and attain the understanding that our own health is our own responsibility. I enjoy working with women primarily (no offense to the millions of amazing men out there). Women are still primarily the ones who pass along positive or negative habits to our younger generations, and feed our men (physically and mentally) as well, so this is where my impact could make the most difference.

    Thanks for reading!

Hi David! Thank you for the book – I actually haven’t been able to read much of it yet, but I am excited to finish it! I recently “woke up” and am doing everything I possibly can to follow my passion – which right now seems to be a life coach. I want to help others find their passion and help them relieve stress and improve their overall wellness through practicing mindfulness and meditation. I am still working at my full time job that I very much dislike. I just want to jump into this head on, but I’m not really sure how/where to start and how to get paying clients. Can you help??

    Thank you so much!
    Mindfully yours,
    Barbara

Thankyou David for articulating, in this book, the vital reason for which we took birth: to enjoy all kinds of abundance on this earth just by being our quintessential divine selves.

I have transformed my life in a way that can now inspire others and have made systems for those desiring to learn and to apply.

I wanted to take a moment to connect with you as a kindred spirit David because it seems there aren’t many out there and I believe we can help each other!

So here is my story as a canned version because the full version would make the subject of a soap opera! 🙂

My earliest ardent belief was that if you did what you love best and what you do best and do it for the greater good, you were bound to become wealthy.

The belief was knocked out of me by my conservative parents who feared I was destined for a life of complete folly and total insecurity. I absorbed their fears like a pro and proceeded to enact their projections as I rebelled hugely aginst their advice and became a chronic life victim. 4 alchoholic partners (the first of whom abandoned my new born babe and I on the birth table) conjugal abuse, 3 bankruptcies, (2 children and 1 migration and a partridge in a pear tree!:)the passion for following my heart and my integrity and the condemning prophecies of my parents caused me terrible conflict. However I was blessed with vision and a mighty, tenacious warrior spirit and have, despite the multiple black holes I dug for myself, not only dug myself out but have vanquished and created the life of my dreams. My one shining burning light was to dance with horses and I have accomplished this many times, in international arenas, under a big top, and now at last in my very own Equestrian Theatre for Dreams. I have found the love of my life, live in paradise, enjoy the health of a superwoman and am building a thriving community of dream warriors and using the internet to share our gifts, our ideas, and the process by which my partner and I turned our lives around.

Pain, resistance and suffering can be the biggest and most motivating springboards for transformation to the scintillating truth that ‘We Can Have It All’.

Becoming wealthy by one’s authenticity is not just a passing phase, it is vital for the future of the human race.

I bless everyone’s path and send masses of my irrepressible Dream Warrior energy to those who doubt. If I can do it so can you.

    With great love,
    Dream Warrior Jenni P

      Thank you Jenni P.

for this wonderful reminder of staying true to oneself.

I totally agree with you that THIS IS vital for the future of the human race.

You really struck a cord there with me, since it is something I am praying for for the longest time.

So many people are still reluctant to speak their truth, because they are scared to be ridiculed and rejected.

It is most vital that we are respecting ourselves enough to care about how and what we wish to present to the world. No matter what anyone else thinks about it.
After all these are their thoughts, and they are just as responsible for theirs as we are for ours ….

or, to translate this into ‘singular’….

I am just as responsible for my thoughts,
as you are for yours … 🙂

      Love to you, too
      Yvonne

      Ahh thankyou Yvonne…
Saving the world begins with saving yourself!
A world of bliss begins with an inner world of bliss for each one. When we stop trying to change things outside of ourselves and change from within, the outside has to shift..it has to. It is law! We call it divine selfishness and indeed, those who are courageous enough to live by the tenet that their own light will illluminate the path for others, are often castigated. The only supportable way of living this is to connect with kindred spirits and you are ONE. Blessing to you..I hope we can come into contact.

For the life of me, I can’t put my finger on what it is I have that could be of value to others, and also have commercial value for me. I am 51 years old, was a General Manager in a private trading organization in Kathmandu, Nepal, when I was 22; a banker for a few years thereafter in Nepal’s first joint venture bank; an entrepreneur with my own restaurant and garments store, a minor partner in a major trading organization in Kathmandu. For the last decade or so – which period includes the last five years in Chennai, India – I have not been doing much that has got me success (though I earned good money for a while as an English language editor for an organization here that handles outsourced jobs for publishing enterprises around the world. Over the last few months, I have been getting deeper and deeper into internet marketing – again without any material success so far, but I DO LOVE this line.

So what am I missing? I mean, I have read “Get Paid for Who You Are”, and it fills me with go, go, go – only I can’t figure out what I can go with. Help, David!

Hi. I am not sure what you mean by “ex-pat” and “totally different culture”, but no, whether in Kathmandu, Nepal, or Madras, India, the culture is practically the same. I was born in Madras, by the way, but lived in Kathmandu for about 36 years.

When I try to distill each phase – if I can call it that – of my experiences down to some hard core of knowledge with potential value for others, I am unable to do so. I do think, though, that of everything I have been through, two things are worth considering:
      – how to keep from breaking down mentally and doing something drastic, as you go through a major period of your life doing nothing and earning nothing, failing in everything you do, after having had great success. How shameful and depressing it is to be a parasite instead of a provider, to watch your children grow up and not being able to do much for them
      – my experiences with internet marketing over the last year or so. If nothing else, I have gained tremendous knowledge – especially on WHAT NOT TO DO

    • Callie

      Monday, May 3, 2010 at 8:21 AM

I, personally would love to hear about WHAT NOT TO DO! Especially, if you can find the humor in it and make it a fun read. (It may also help you to see more humor in you past learning experiences!) Another good thing, maybe how to take seeming ‘failures’ and see the victory in it. A parasite is only a parasite if you label it that way, and truly feel you have nothing to give (which is always, essentially, a false statement perpetuated by the ego).

I think this IS the way to turn your perceived failures into a VICTORY!

goodness – with all those banking and managing skills and editing skills, nothing is coming to mind? WHO do you want to help, and with what?

    • Venkatesh

      Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 7:25 PM

David, I became a banker in a very glam position in marketing even though I was not highly qualified, academically speaking. With a simple B.Com., I was just lucky to get that job in an institution that was crawling with MBAs and other post graduates.

My editing skills, I suppose, arise from an inbuilt feeling for languages (I speak seven languages with varying degrees of fluency), and a passion for the English language especially.

Having said all that, I am still uncertain. Take for example, my background in banking – should I try to teach people technical aspects of banking? The finer nuances of marketing? What?

Time to work with a business coach I think, to brainstorm around all your skills and passions……….time to think outside the box so you can apply all those skills of yours.

    • Venkatesh

      Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 7:29 PM

Oh yes, Carol, what is definitely need is some thinking outside the box. As far as coaches are concerned, as a person who is unproductive at present, money-wise, I am not sure I can afford it. I would love to have a blog that offers tremendous value to readers and subscribers, but I am unable to determine what the primary topic should be.

    • Callie

      Monday, May 3, 2010 at 8:40 AM

Hello, and sorry for butting in (yet again)… Venkatesh, it is only possible for YOU to know where your inherent value is, and the only way to find that is to forget about momentary financial affluence (or lack thereof), as it’s NOT proof if intrinsic value, and find ways to begin focusing on what you CAN give back.

I don’t think you NEED a life coach, as much as you NEED to be feeding yourself positive reinforcement. (What you feed lives, so don’t feed your self doubt, starve it by replacing it with positive affirmations)!

    Hi David

Thank you so much for your wonderful book. I would have read it in one day but I have a demanding 2 year old who required my attention. Anyway, I had to laugh at your story of being a singer/ musician especially when you said you can’t actually sing. Lol. I actually can sing but was always too scared to take it further. However I realised that was not my passion. I truly believe my passion is personal development. I love reading books on how I can improve and better myself and how I can help others to reach their potential. That’s what truly lights up my life!
I read my first personal development book when I found it in my Dads bookshelf while I was at high school. I am now 42 and have a big bookshelf of Personal development books and many of them I am still yet to read. Every now and then I go to my bookshelf and one that has been sitting there for a while and I have never read I finally am ready to read.
I never went to University because I wanted to work and earn my own money but later realising that I actually wanted to be my own boss, which now I believe I wanted to be an entrepreneur!
However that all changed when I also realised I was talented at a sport and went on to represent my country. In sport you have many ups and downs and I had my fair share of challenges. Many people did not think that I had the talent to represent my country but I was very determined and 10 years later after many opportunities to give up I reached my goal of representing my country. Those challenges have made me stronger in my life and business.

Lastly without trying to write a book here, I am a at home mom working part time in a home based business taking care of our 2 year old girl while my partner works in the UK 8-10 months of the year sacrificing time apart so we can get ahead. I am also a part time professional sports coach. The reason why I tell you all this is I know my passion is personal development but would love a little guidance on what to specifically focus on in developing my niche.

    Thank you so much
    Gail

Wow, I think you’ve got a big story to tell there – from recognising a talent and doing all the work that goes with it to the point of representing your country. How many people just dream of that? Add to that you passion for PD – how about a twist on “The Inner Game of Tennis” and a 2nd book about golf? Also there’s “That Winning Feeling” which is the applicatioan of PD in Dressage.
And you’ve moved on to sports coaching as well. Please tell the world the whole story.

    David,
I know i got a story to tell… but with so much responsibilities, I feel that I don’t have enough time to develop them.I due time, I will. I just need un-grouping or re-grouping of me so I could share better with the world.

      Here’s my schpeel:

Choas prevails as long as we will let it. Take steps every day to simplify and harmonize your life. Find little ways to start doing only that which makes you happy (ok doing laundry is not happiness, but doing *mindfully* may bring a little more), and leave behind little by little extra *things* which do not enhance your life.

Like David says, it’s up to each of us to make the time to make our dreams happen. Sometimes that means saying “no” to something here and there without guilt.

    • David Stevens

      Friday, April 30, 2010 at 7:18 PM

      Grace,
One of your most important priorities is YOU. Make time to develop yourself and other ‘responsibilities’ will fall into place. It may not seem easy however will reap great rewards in time.
      Be good to yourself, David

Started reading the book..great will continue doing so.
I’ve always changed my life to suit myself..when I’ve ended up not doing what I wanted, I changed. I love what I do at the mioment, (I’m a jester and circus performer) have lots of free time to enjoy my children growing up (I’m 57, they are 5 and 7)and am prepared to change my day to suit how I feel. I’m currently working to increase my income as, unfortunately, I need to in order to provide the education I want for my children…they love their school (Steiner Waldorf) and I aim to keep them there…it just takes cash!!! Looking at other avenues to attract the necessary funds and your book, along with other things I’m into will definately help Many thanks.

Have not read the book yet but here’s my story.
I am now 63 years old (looking forward to the next 30 or more–good genes). I am a wife and mother of 4 grown children and grandmother to 6.

I have mostly been a travel agent when working full time but did network marketing and LOTS of volunteer work.

Finally decided who I wanted to be when I grew up in 2000, when I entered massage school. Massage is my passion and through it I have been able to touch and often heal many people. I found another natural trait in healing.

Now, however, I want to do less clients and help my fellow bodyworkers with their businesses. My idea is to open a site to teach bodyworkers marketing in such a way as to sustain their businesses, or grow them, while still making bodyworking and not marketing their major focus and time consumer.
I believe I’ll do this via a membership site with a course. I already have a ‘tips’ report written and am working on a longer ebook. Part of all this will be a blog with a forum to get bodyworkers together to exchange ideas. From that, I’ll launch the membership site.

It’s taken a while to get this together, mostly because I’ve had to learn all the internet aspects of selling and traffic and backlinks and advertising, and autoresponders, etc. Plus how to set up a web site, and where, and how to get a domain name and on and on and on…

So, David, if you’re reading this, if your site covers all the basics of the above all in one spot, you’ve got it made. (And if not, do it!)

I was attracted to this site because I want reassurance that I’m doing this right the first time and not screwing myself up somehow.

Plus, now I’ve read so many stories, I feel like I’ve got lots of friends here. 😉

Trouble is we learn by out mistakes………I realise that I have not progressed with marketing my business because I can’t afford for it not to succeed……..but the key is just to get on and do something, and then tweek it as time goes along.

    Dear David,

You are opening the door for Souls to live again-it is a wonderful gift to give to the world, I thank you.

Single mothers, all over the world, are working miracles in themselves, their homes, their children and their communities. What many need I give: the Soul search for meaning ends where it began: YOU ARE SIGNIFICANT. Hearing it from a human is one thing, reading it as a message from God is even more deeply needed. “IamthatIam, Peace. Be still and know that I am God, a message for single mothers around the world” is an inspirational book I wrote, it is available in the U.S. on the web. As only one person, managing the details of international sales is far more daunting than I realized.

‘My book’ was inspired by a long journey of my own. It lifted me up, in less than 40 pages, and I took all the steps to get it out there and into at least one store. I did not push for a publisher because it had a life of its own. To date every mother cries when she reads it (even married ones). Yet, I have not been able to do as much promoting as one might think advisable. I’m certainly not able to live off of it – sales are quite sporadic.

My personal journey has been one of having to learn what happens to children dragged through ‘the system’, what happens to mothers who want to provide a loving, simple environment for these angels to thrive, as they deserve. I help mothers almost one at a time. Long hours on the phone. Play dates together, church groups.

Isolation can be a huge barrier for most women who are or become single mothers. The pain of the stigma and the paperwork involved are heart wrenching in and of themselves. Not to mention the hours needed to focus on the children and herself to ensure a positive environment, and most of all attitude, without much support from the outside world.

This issue is worldwide. It matters because our present and upcoming generations deserve women who are happy and self confidently authentic. Women who go through hell to raise children in a certain self affirming personal heaven truly want to believe in themselves again. It is not easy, nor is it ever a light load. However, these women are determined, like myself, to succeed at the one thing they will do in their life that will hold the most value: Love and care for a child.

I learned more about the ‘system’ than I wanted to know, so now I teach others how it works, why it works that way and how to navigate through it for their families. I inspire mothers to be unique, different, you don’t have to ‘fit in’. Even going so far as to encourage throwing out their old sense of self, the broken mold. We avoid the news, the papers, and don’t compete with “The Jones’s” or even try to be ‘like’ the world we are in. Not as a rebellion: far from it. The matter of our individuality and the importance of nurturing a healthy sense of self in our children is at the top of our lists. Raising Masters is what I call it. Mastering the self, maintaining the inherent happiness every child is born with is as close to raising a family of love we can work toward. We make memories together.

We do it on pennies. We do it because we have to, and we want to. We do it because something in Nature manages to create beauty in the midst of broken homes and dreams without a struggle or force. All of us want to know someone believes in us, all of the time, unconditionally. My book is the message from the one Soul every Mother hopes hears her prayers, God.

In a world where spirituality can be scoffed at, God would be the one to rush to the aid of anyone caring for children on their own while enduring hardship. This year I have planted seeds for mothers as well as taken soil, pots etc. to the local group of mothers I am lucky to know. The idea was to encourage growing as the best entertainment we have on Earth. But it was also part of my wish to share the incredible power of Nature to grow beauty, life, with little effort (and virtually no money) on your part. The power of attention, commitment to living things and sharing it with the family was exciting for everyone and now we will all have food in a few short months to share. Note: I’ve never planted food before…EVER…this being, then, an opportunity to override any cries of, “…but I don’t know how…” because I didn’t know either.

The documentation of the Bliss Tip Garden is on YouTube at BlissTipReels, and a twitter feed on http://www.blisstip.com.

I didn’t want to ask for money to help with ideas, so I’ve left left the option open to visitors to leave a Bliss Tip Edible Fund Donation if they would like. I have waited tables for years, and so people give what they can, when they want and if they can afford to. My Twitter feed grows at a snails pace, but is the most fun I have had since writing IamthatIam.

My favorite comments from friends/mothers: “Christina is my Personal GPS, the only person I call with a problem, how come you believe in God so much? I’m so glad you’re my friend, Thank You, your book needs to be out there more, more mothers need this than you know.”

These aren’t to flatter you or impress you, they are the gifts I receive for helping people. It is the reflection of a growing sense of value in themselves that will, and already does, spill over to their children. When we are sad, depressed, isolated, worried, stuck or fearful it spreads through our home. Having reminders of self worth shines a light into the darkness of doubt. Children need us all to be able to do this for one another, otherwise, I think the value of work, commerce, accumulation of wealth or titles is pointless. I would imagine you met a few sad wealthy people on Park Avenue…perhaps?

I hope I have contributed to your mission in some way, and possibly helped a mother on her journey. IamthatIam Publishing does not see the updates often at the moment, but BlissTip on Twitter and YouTube do. Feel free to leave a tip on the Edible Fund if I’ve helped you and you feel like doing so, but most importantly: be happy!

Blessings to all… I believe in you..we love you happy…I trust you do, too.

      Christina,
Think about this: would you be willing to trade for your help and information? What if someone offered you vegetables from their garden for 3 months in exchange for a session with you? Would you do it?

Most people are willing to trade goods even when reluctant to take money.

Try looking at money as paper that you trade for. As long as it’s the right amount of paper for that particular trade, and you and the paper trader agree on that amount, it’s perfectly fine to do it. The paper trader is happy, they got what they wanted for an amount they could afford, and you are happy because you got a fair price and didn’t gouge anyone.

Just another way to look at it.

You are a very compassionate person. Bless you.

      Dear Joyce,

You sensed me quite well. Thank you for reading my story and giving me input-I need it more than you know…I am a one woman show here. Encouraging people to want to change is a challenge, so I appreciate any and all help concerning improving myself and my world.

It’s usually the poorest I help the most, and the largest book orders I receive are from Churches or individuals buying for multiple women! I’ve donated 50 to a women and family shelter, and around 20 were sent last Christmas to mothers I knew could not afford it.
I would trade, you’re right. Your example makes a lot of sense, thank you-better get used to it, and soon. It is a challenge, for me, to charge the women who are already struggling financially.

for your smiling enjoyment: the plants I seeded this year are given mostly to moms and families–meaning, I’m consulting and giving plants :).

Feel free to check out the videos of our planting and some shots of our Garden at: http://www.youtube.com/user/BlissTipReels

and don’t hesitate to share your input if you desire.

God Bless you, and keep smiling! Our world needs our happy faces…

I was bombarded with antibiotics as a child for 17 yr’s. and it did a # on my digestive system. 30ies allergic suddenly to paint glue etc… 40ies food, wheat sugar etc. I was so full of yeast it was comming out my ying yang.I eat 5 meals a day & have learnt a lot about nutrition. I couldn’t work anyware so from my leather hobby I learnt boat top making, Upholstery.I needed to let go of the anger so I learnt to meditate. My muscles were seizing so yoga helped Then Tai Chi leading to Qigong. Other hobies Guitar which I teach, Banjo, Celtic harp, harmonica, slide guitar, Sound Therapy with tuning forkes.I now teach yoga(10 yr’s) Qigong-meditation.Help people with drug free pain relief meditation. I’m a Yoga consultant. Thai yoga massage 2nd level, Rekie master. I’ve been dog sleding and training dogs for 24 yr’s. I carve soapstone, I do workshops in drum making and some of the above. I love to camp,Winter or summer canoe. Right now is extreemly busy with the boat business so I only got to read the first chapter but it sounds great. My only question is how do you get people to by from you on the internet? Most people I know will by from a well known name like Amazon but are reluctant to put their card at risk to an unknown site.I am a bit the same. Are we alone in this thinking?Oh ya I’m also a cook at a hunting camp one week a yr.

      Hello Greg,

Wow! I LOVE all of your skills and hobbies (and okay, perhaps I am a tad envious, too? heehee)!

The best move to protect yourself AND potential customers is to make sure that whatever merchant gateway/shopping cart (read: a means to accept payments online) is SECURE. Many sites today are, and it’s quite easy to look for. They will either say it at checkout, show an SSL logo or both. This is truly the only means that you’ll know all transactions are secure. Additionally, many credit card companies today offer both merchant AND card holder protection should any issues arise. It’s certainly worth looking into prior to setting up an online store. Best wishes on tackling your dreams!

Hiiiiyah! Freedom Ninja in training here…loving the book David (and that blue skin really suits you…how’s life on Pandora?) It came at the perfect time as I am learning my new ninja moves to karate-kick down the walls of misery and mediocrity that have kept me stuck for several years. And yes, it is totally about being me and sharing my passions with the world, but I discovered there were some essential steps to allowing even that to happen.

In 2005 I had my first non-fiction book published worldwide (Goddess Power Pack). It was an amazing achievement as I signed the deal when I was just 25, and went through the whole publishing process by myself – no agent. I shared my teachings on how to be a goddess girl at holistic fairs and some weekend retreats. Honestly David, I wish I’d had your book then because I didn’t have a clue about marketing myself, and despite its huge potential and positive message, it totally fizzled out because I didn’t believe in myself and sabotaged it. I burned through a big chunk of inheritance money to promote it, and once that was gone ended up flat broke and living with my parents (hmmm, interestingly similar to a few years before when my credit cards maxed out and I ended up – you guessed it – flat broke and living with my parents!). So for the past few years I’ve lived the tiniest life imaginable, hiding from the world, feeling too small and insignificant to make a difference, and having the teeny tiny income and joy-draining debts to match that lack of self-worth. At the end of last year I sold what little posessions I had, scraped together some earnings from freelance writing, and jumped on a plane to Hawaii to live out a long-held dream of spending a winter there and swimming with dolphins. You know that saying “Wherever you go, there you are?” Well that’s just what it was like. By the end of three months of scraping by, and spending most of the time worrying about money, I had to borrow funds from a friend to even get my flight home. And – oh it’s just so predictable – I found myself in February 2010 flat broke and living at my parents! Arrggh! I wanted to bang my head against the wall. Seven *@!*$@&! years of self-development had got me nowhere. I’d tapped myself ’til I was bruised, I’d spent every night listening to mind repatterning programmes, I’d been hypnotised, NLP’d, Reiki’d, and a whole load of other things. And here I was, stuck with the same old scenario. I knew I had subconscious beliefs around money that were keeping me stuck, but I just couldn’t break through them. I made a command to the universe that things had to change NOW. And I didn’t want to win the lottery or have money fall into my lap (like I’d been hoping for the last decade). I wanted the tools and the teachers that would help me break free from my limiting patterns around money once and for all! Enough was enough!

Two months later and I am a completely different person. I feel confident, I really like and love myself, I am passionate about the message and the tools I have to share with others, and I am so excited about getting out into the world and being ME…and getting incredibly well rewarded for it. I have cleared so much inner gunk (quickly and easily) that I feel unstoppable. Amazing synchronicities are happening every day – on a level they never have before. Right now I’m sat in a hotel lobby in Albuquerque, giddy with excitement (and jetlag!) about starting a practitioners training course in The One Command tomorrow. This is one of the life-changing, mind-blowing techniques that have helped me. The other is the ZPoint Process. They both ROCK! I’m taking these out into the world to help liberate people from the same prison of poverty that I’ve kept myself stuck in for years. I had an ‘aha!’ moment this morning whilst practising the One Command, that the key to spiritual and personal growth – and love, joy and happiness – is financial freedom. What keeps you the most stuck? Wat causes you the most stress? What do you wish you had more of? Money, right? Now imagine what kind of service you could do for the world if you weren’t spending so much time worrying about money. If you had the resources and freedom to follow your heart, to make a difference, to share your wealth with others. Lack of money (and the belief in it) is a form of social control to stop people becoming the incredible leaders and joyful beings we have the right to be. Get your ninja gear on and start karate-chopping through those inner blocks because I promise you once you do, life becomes an adventure and you really will be able to be who you are – fearlessly and joyfully – and get paid lots for it.
Check this out for starters, you won’t be the same afterwards:
    http://www.richesandjoy.com/#/one-command/4540398637

The other way I’m contributing is setting up a non-profit project to campaign for the protection of whales and dolphins, my passion issue. Ideas are flooding in and I’ll be setting things up around June/July. Just another benefit of choosing to be me : )

Thank you David, for the book, the inspiration, the opportunity to share my story, and giggles at your Na’vi get-up.

    HI

Thanks for the encouraging responses Katie
and Cordelia. I will be interested to
see your website Cordelia. sounds like you
have definitely had a “shift” in consciousness. It’s true what you said
I do have that work ethic stuck mindset,
“its hard, have to work harder” then all
that happens is I have to work even harder.
Trying to break through that one but I kind of
think it’s fear that keeps me in place.
I do feel a slight shift though that this
year is going to be different. So
tomorrow I’m going over to Apple for
tech support building my website. Bought
    a domain name years ago.

ps I am from the UK but not in the UK
    presently.

      Hi Heather,

How did your website go with Apple? I hope that it went great! May I ask what the fear is that’s holding you back from tackling your dreams? When you are still enough within yourself, and are present for yourself, you can also be present for others and watch yourself GROW! All the best to you!

      Hi Sarah,

My website is looking good. It has a blog connected
to it so now I just have to write the content
for the various pages. Good question you asked.
I think its fear of failure, that I can’t maintain
success or can’t do what it takes so I try to keep
things within my control. So, I’m trying to step
out of that comfort zone (which is not comfy at all).
David’s book is great, it seem a little overwhelming
to me all that has to be put in place but I’m just
going to take it one step at a time.

Hope your projects are going well.

      Self Publish.
The Get Paid For Who You Are
      is just a pdf file.

If you have content, get it out there.
There are also lots of self-publishing sites that will print on demand- when someone buys your book it gets printed and sent to them. No more is the warehouse of unsold books.

These sites can then link on your website so people can buy your book.
      Get it out there.

Great stuff. I am reading the book now and think I can get some passive income rolling from that.

My story: short version. I worked in Govt contracting for 18 years as a software engineer, but always wanted to be an artist. In 2005 after a series of events, including studying art and painting in my spare time, I quit corporate and launched out on my own. I had a good start, but I have been in a stall, recently. I have almost everything I need: lots of time, lots of freedom, a joyous life, but miss the financial independence part and I want to pull that piece together while I still have some money left.

At this point, I am not sure what product I am going to put together to market, other than my art. I may start with some free lessons or tips on my website. Then this morning, I get an email from an acquaintance who says my website is antiquated, slow and klunky. Just in time, I guess for an upgrade.

Looks like I have a ton on work to do, on top of the work I already have to do. Any ideas on how I might clone myself? Or parse this work out so I don’t feel buried?

Thanks and thanks again for the book. It’s inspiring.

I’m 60 years old and ready to implement a dream I’ve wanted to realize for more than 3 years.

By day, I’m a technical marketer and technology analyst. By night, I’m an explorer of textile craft traditions that might be dying out. I want to tell the stories of artisans who have dedicated their lives to keep these traditions alive.

I have clear ideas about what I want to accomplish (and why)and how I plan to do it, but I need to figure out the financing–how to pay for my explorations and the equipment and plane fare I’ll need to get to target areas in the USA, Japan, and India.

I’ve already done some of the steps (business name and tag line, elevator pitch, target markets), but the e-book helps by presenting the other steps in a logical order.

The ideas really work. I thought that coming up with an intial product would be hard, but no! My first product (an atlas of locations where my target crafts are done) will take a bit more than 7 days, but it’s doable in a sorta short time, so I won’t get stuck.

So… I’m on my way. If I had a glass of champagne, I would raise it to David and his crew–here’s to them and everyone on the path to greater freedom.

    Thanks!

PS I chose my gravatar because she reminds me not of a ninja but of Tomoei Gozen, the greatest female samurai (a real person).

    Greetings,
I’ve just perused your first chapter, David, and I appreciate where you are coming from. I was born in Pennsylvania dirt poor, joined the army, and went to college on the GI Bill. Earned a PH.D. in Sociology and taught four years at the University of Victoria, before pursuing my Spiritual Path, finding much happiness and peace, but ending up poor and in debit. I am getting out of debt now as an Energy Psychologist, using EFT and Emotion Code to liberate people. It’s great fulfilling work and I am very good at it, as I am very empathetic and have a intuitive ability to connect to people and their energy and know what’s blocking them. I have a lot to share and love helping set people free!

    Hi David,

I got excited reading your book (thank you!) – but got stuck on the idea that I needed to have a ‘product’. I could see that I could be helpful to people, but not how I could get paid for it!

I am a qualified architect/planner, and I have always worked as a planner in development control for local government. I am in a job at the moment, and not enjoying it.
I love old buildings (intended to be a restoration architect at some stage), and have been involved in doing up old houses, including the one we are living in now. However, it is a costly business that hasn’t made us any money, in fact, it nearly bankrupted us. But I know and understand the development process, so could help people with that.
I read an article yesterday that suggested counting the number of books in each subject on your shelves as a guide to what your interest are.
For me that is personal development, healing, pottery, historic architecture, art and gardening.
I have been searching for a long time for what I want to be when I grow up. I’m 61 now, and I still haven’t figured it out. At this stage I think my greatest achievement has been my family – I have 3 adult sons, and we are very close.
I would love some help in moving forward from here, because I am ready to quit my job….

    Thank you
    Jeffie

      Hi Jeffie,

well – what if people read three of your newsletters, then see your ad for your CD and decide to try it out, paying $29 to order it.
When you wake up in the morning you see the order in your inbox, and the money has gone into your account.
Does that clarify it a little?

      Hi Jeffie,

To follow up on the cd comment/idea – a thought is to take something that you are passionate in, say gardening, and interview others you may know who are Master Gardners, garden enthusiasts, popular gardners, etc. Prior to interviewing them, you can ask for their permission to record the conversation to use as a cd that you’ll market to other gardening enthusiasts. Viola! You’ve not only created a cd recording of your interviews, but you can also hire someone to transcribe the cd for you and now you have TWO products to sell- a cd AND a written transcript of the interview(s).

I hope this helps you. Best wishes!

I read the book and believe that it has the power to change lives, even mine, if I can just find my way.

I’ll be 43 on May 12, and I’m working at a job that is below my capabilities and knowledge. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling, but I’m working nights in a youth group home. I like the job, but know I could do so much more. I am a writer as well, so all these ideas would come together nicely. If I could just figure out how….I’ve thought of life coaching, but I feel lost. How can I help others?

    Dear David,
Your gift of a book inspires me to get my story out there. Thank you.
A couple of years ago I knew I had to change my life or literally die. I quit my work, got divorced, sold my house and moved to the Peruvian Amazon. I spent a lot of time in the shamanistic world and learned many things. That break from this world helped sever beliefs in my mind about how life ought to be lived. I experienced another way which took me deep into knowing myself. I came out the other side knowing somehow this experience was not only important to my evolution but to others as well.
But I didn’t know how to go about sharing. I still haven’t pinpointed exactly but I am getting closer.
    Thank you,
    Georgina

I have written a couple stories if you are interested in reading a glimpse of my experience. One is in the testimonial section of http://www.tierravidahealing.com and the other will be coming out in Shaman’s Drum magazine in July. My big writing project is still in the rough draft phase.
      I appreciate your curious side!

Here is the story of me. Enjoy.
Born in Australia, Lawrence (Laurie) Carroll has spent a lifetime going beyond his own inner and outer limits to achieve remarkable results. For three decades, Lawrence has endeavored to share the simple but profound principles he uses with others. Informed by his varied and rich background of experience, unique skills, philosophical perspective and down-to-earth qualities, he has helped people achieve their goals and dreams.
After earning his Mathematics degree, Lawrence began teaching high school at Oak Flats, on the south coast of New South Wales. He continues to receive correspondence from students he taught in the early 1980’s, who remember him as a dedicated and inspiring presence in their lives. In addition to teaching, Lawrence coached basketball, led the school surfing program, instituted training programs for first aid and lifesaving, as well as organizing fund raising events and end-of-year activities. He co-founded and was National President of the Australian School Surfing Association, a nation-wide organization that established consistent safety standards, instruction, and certification for the sport of surfing so it could be officially taught in the Australian school system.

After teaching for ten years Lawrence’s wife, whom he deeply loved, died of a brain tumor. This threw him into a deep depression and at the same time ignited an insatiable yearning to make sense out of his life. He quit his teaching job and began traveling the world, meeting a vast spectrum of people, from renowned surfers and scuba divers, to beggars in India, from famous actors and performers, to enlightened spiritual teachers. Everyone’s story fascinated him and he learned the secrets of how dynamic and powerful the human spirit is in its ability to triumph over any obstacle. He diligently studied various philosophies and spiritual teachings, refining his meditation skills and engaging in physical endurance training that often awed his teachers, friends and family.

Lawrence has become known throughout the Berkshires for inspiring people to surpass their physical and psychological limitations. In 2005 and 2006, he organized two fund-raising, community-wide ultra-marathons—The Beyond Limits Runs. In each of these amazing events, he ran 100 miles without sleep in 24 hours and 30 hours respectively. The Beyond Limits runs took place on the historic Foxhollow property in Lenox. Dozens of people from throughout the community—age 5 to 65—joined in, running varying distances. Many far surpassed their limitations, running 5, 10, 25 and even 50 miles. These extraordinary events raised more than $15,000 for non-profit organizations in the local area — such as the Railroad Street Youth Project in Great Barrington, whose teenage members joined the run and EnlightenNext who hosted the run.

Lawrence currently teaches math at Taconic High School. He says his real work is to help students gain self respect and develop integrity and care for others no matter how challenged they are. He does this through a unique approach that incorporates his own CORE methodology, meditation and physical strengthening exercises. These skills have made it possible for students to develop powerful learning techniques, often transforming years of poor study habits within weeks.

Lawrence also shares this methodology with adults through his coaching programs on physical, mental and emotional pathways to go beyond perceived limits.

Lawrence currently lives in the beautiful Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, where he is happily married to renowned journalist, lecturer and musician, Jessica Roemischer.

I had been involved in the Direct Selling business for 13 years and heard everyone around me share, time after time, their vision for their business. I struggled to find mine. I was good at what I did and on more than one occassion been rewarded for my top performances. I liked what I did but I didn’t LOVE it.
A chance encounter with a perceptive person allowed me to not only find my passion for the business but FEEL it in every fibre of my body.
It was then I realised what a massive priviledge being running a home based business had been at the same time as being a mother. I had been a “YES” mum. Being in Direct selling had allowed me to say “YES” to all those things which working mum’s with “REAL” jobs only dream about.
Being in Direct Selling allowed me to be in the most important role I had signed up for so far in my life. Being a mother and wife.
My heart aches for all those “Latch key” kids who come home to an empty house. No one to share their day with. No-one to wipe away the tears from a bad day or cuddle away the pain of a broken heart. Just writing this makes my heart ache for a generation of children who have had to grow up too fast because their Mum’s have had to work.
I want to be part of a movement, or begin a movement, that informs the world about the option that I was so priviledged to find, and to bring mothers back into the home to nurture their young and prepare them to be the best they were created to be.
I look forward to reading how I can do this and perhaps live out what I was created for.
Thank you for your vision to the world.

I’m in the throws of writing a book based on a spiritual awakening I had after my personal transformational partner, best friend and beloved tragically took his own life. The last 10 years have been a very deep and have changed the course of my life. I am really excited to finally be ready to begin sharing the story with others. I plan to build a platform for my business around the principals and insights I have been shown during my own journey of healing! I pray the book will be done and published by this time next year, when I will be well on my way to helping the masses remember the importance of Saying Yes to their dreams, no matter what obstacles they may be facing!

Hi, I am reading the e-book, this ideas of having a website, to make money, and help others, it´s not new, I tried it about 10 years ago, selling mayan handcrafts, but paypal was not including Guatemala, and it was almost impossible to make payments through credit cards, because this country has a very poor reputation. I believe in freedom, and have lived as free as possible, in fact, even my 4 children have been on and off in homeschooling system for this reason.
I will keep reading and learning, and getting inspired…thank you so much.

They told me 5 years ago I had breast cancer. After having the lump removed I decided NOT to do the conventional treatments of chemotherapy, radiation or hormone treatments.
I have written a book about my healing experience to share with others, there is another way to heal. When I re-aligned my body, mind, spirit and emotions, I became whole, complete, healthy and happy. I self published and am at this moment healed and awaiting my first copys to arrive from the printers.

Just read chapter one and I am inspired! I am a 55 year old psychotherapist and I LOVE what I do. I am very spiritual and I feel as if I am also being drawn to do something in addition to my clinical work. I have always felt I am to write a book. So, I started blogging several months ago as a way to get my feet wet. So far so good, I am liking the process but not sure where to go from here…..then I wandered across your book! At this point, I want to do something more with the writing but I am so unfocused as to audience, what type message, etc. I have been pondering this for days, so far no further clarity. So, I will move on in the process and see where I go with it!

    Hi, David, and Hi, Sarah,

I am 85 years young, and have more in common with people half my age than with my contemporaries. Dancing and poetry are my main interests, and rhythm is my addiction. Thank you both for your wonderful understanding response to my emails. I started reading the ebook, but then my printer started having tantrums, and thatis why I decided to order the physical book. I look forward to reading it, and learning very much more about how to combine my world of fantasy with the material world. I’ll be in touch when I’ve read the first chapter.

I have recently started to do some performance poetry, using my book “Gut-Brain”. I get deep satisfaction from that, but don’t know how to use my specific very rhythmic talents to enhance the lives of people, and to help resolve my financial problems.

Look forward to sharing feelings and impressions with everyone beneath the facades.

Let’s meet core-to-core??? Wow!! David!! This whole project has started releasing a volcano inside me!!

    With sincere warmth,

    Mindi

I am 85 years young, filled with enthusiasm, mad about dancing (being part of the cosmic dance)and have written a poetry book which is wiser than I am!! I feel myself bursting with potential, I love people, it is difficult for me to accept that there are people who don’t respond to love. But most do. By “normal” standards, I’m a bit of a misfit. But find my joy and acceptance among people half my age, who are far wiser and more complete than I am. I cannot understand why it is that, with all these positive things throbbing away inside me, I have not established a career, I have not earned much, either in material terms or in emotional terms. It’s as though I have the energy, but it remains unmanifested. Reading Eckhart Tolle and Deepak Chopra helps me……and David, it’s such a joy to know that people like you are around. How many are there with compassionate spirits, yet the ability to make the most of this insane, materialistic world? (Bruce Copley is one of them, I hope he has been in touch with you).

Thanks so much for your warm and welcome reply. When you get to two-thirds of the way there, I’ll try to grow down and meet you. After all, we have three ages, and have a choice out of two of them. Chronological we can’t control. But biologically and emotionally we have a tremendous choice!! And it doesn’t have to be a second childhood, we can enjoy the magic of the first one!! Sorry I duplicated my reply – my mouse had started behaving like a rat, so I thought I’d lost half the message.
      Lots of love to you,

    Hi,

My story is that I am an artist. I have been self-employed for 21 years traveling
around the country selling my work at art
festivals. I work seven days a week all
year round no time off, no holidays and I make just enough money to pay
my bills, buy more materials and pay for more shows. Since the economy turned to custard I have had to work harder to make the same amount of money. If I were to really sit down and work out how much I made an hour I would be on the floor in puddles of tears. The up side is I do work for myself, I do have flexibility of time, not freedom. I do meet a lot of really nice people.

I started reading the book and that has
spurred me on to create my long overdue
website, which is rather a daunting task
to me. I have read more than the first
chapter and started to get overwhelmed
    with newsletter, blog, email list…..
plus a product. Now I have the goods
    I make I don’t have a product that would
make money while I sleep as each piece I make is created by hand by me…. so I don’t know how that would work.

I would like to have more freedom of time
    and be financially secure.

Thanks for the book, I will keep reading.

      Heather –

Have you ever thought of prints of your work, various sizes, even greeting cards? There is a way to set up a web site so that prople can view but not copy/print your work (don’t know how to do it, just know it’s possible). You could possibly allow download of one of your pieces with a paid fee; maybe track the quantity and allow only 100 (or whatever number you choose) to be downloaded. Just a suggestion – run with it in any direction you choose. Good luck!

      Hey Heather,
You deserve to do what you love *and* have a fabulous income, plenty of leisure time, and all-round awesome levels of abundance. I was in a similar position to you in that I was working part-time jobs at just over minimum wage, doing a little bit of work on the side that was OK but generally going nowhere and feeling miserable – also overwhelmed by the prospect of doing the work I thought it would take to get me out of that scenario. Only 7 – 8 weeks ago I discovered two new techniques for clearing subconscious blocks to success and prosperity – and after seven years of self-development they are the only things that I have come across that have worked in a really profound way. I’m becoming the person I am meant to be – I am really so different to who I was two months ago. From scared, timid, stuck – and broke! – I am now excited about creating my dreams in a way that helps loads of people who’ve been through the same thing. I’m not daunted by doing any of the things I know I need to do to create success and happiness, I’m actually really excited because I’ve shifted so much limiting gunk from inside of me that I know I am capable enough and good enough to do it all in a huge way! In a nutshell, you’ve got to work on this from the inside out. It sounds like your subconscious has programes for hard work and struggle that won’t allow you to prosper no matter what you do. Clear these first and the rest will follow – honestly, that is what’s happening to me in an incredible way I could never, ever have expected! I’ll post my story shortly so check it out for more info, or get in touch via my website. Any way I can help to inspire you and move forward to the abundant life you deserve – just shout! Cordelia x

In 1977 I was diagnosed with depression after the death of my brother Teddy, at which stage I was given tranquilizers, anti-depressant drugs and sleeping tablets.
At the time of the Teddy’s death, I was not talking to him, which created a feeling of guilt. This carried on for years and I was told that I had to stay on the prescribed drugs for the rest of my life. Well, by this time, I was on so many drugs from anti-depressants, sleeping tablets and more. I had full time employment and had to write everything down or I would forget what I had to do.

My husband and my two daughters took a lot of strain, as they did not know how to cope with me. In 1992, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and had to have a double mastectomy. This really did not help the depression, I started to double up on the medication, and I turned myself into a zombie. In 1993, my mom died from cancer and six weeks later, my eldest daughter married and immigrated to the UK. A year later my dad died and this is when the wheels came off as I suddenly realized that the only family that I had now was my husband and my two daughters.

I tried to commit suicide, which, thankfully, did not work. I then had a nervous breakdown and saw a fantastic Psychologist who recommended that I learn to relax and suggested that Reflexology would help. I found a very good Reflexologist and started treatment. The Psychologist then helped me to start moving forward and the Reflexologist dug a bit deeper into my past.

We found that my problems actually started at the age of eight when my grandfather died and everything started to accumulate from there. I then decided to come off all the drugs, which took nine months to achieve, because the process is very slow.

I then realized what the drugs had done to me. While on them I was the Witch, I did not like myself, was very negative about everything, I also found that I had become very aggressive and had forgotten what it was like to be happy.

I now live a fantastic life, which is totally drug free. I studied to become a Therapeutic Reflexologist specializing in depression and anxiety at the age of 45, I felt there was a need to help others overcome depression, using the same tools that I did, as I talk from personal experience and 14 years of private practice.

I often wondered why it took so long to find my real niche in life, the answer is I did not have the personal experience to be able to relate and help people as I can today. So remember everything happens for a reason.

I am 35 and have been dealing with a debilitating neurological condition that precludes traditional employment since September 2006. I lost everything I had worked for to that point, gained tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills, and recently became homeless.
I’ve read your book three times now, and am working on the first of two ebook series. I bought a domain name several years ago, without knowing what I was going to do with it, and I still own it. By this time next month, I’ll be ready to launch my site and the first book. When you’re sitting on rock bottom worried about the bare necessities, it’s hard to see outside of your immediate needs and reach for the future you envision. Your book opened the door for me, bringing me out of that mindset and making me realize that we have to create our own opportunities. When this works and I’m on my feet and on my way to my dreams, I will write to you and let you have my whole story.
Count on me having my own place, being financially independent, affording my mom’s retirement and having the space and funds to open my little decorative arts business within the year. Within five years, I’ll be remodeling and selling or renting properties and will have the multiple streams of income necessary to maintain financial freedom.
    Thank you so much!

      Juliet,
I’m SO inspired by your attitude.
      I offer two suggestions:
      1) set the big goals, AND be gentle with yourself. Even if you achieved 10% of that in a year I think it would be a huge win.
      2) be a little cautious with ebooks – they can take a lot of effort and time to produce, for a pretty low price point.

By comparison a CD can be done inside a week and sell for $9-$29 quite easily. Even a special report of 17-27 pages might sell for $9 or $14.

Thank you for sharing your story, and I’m going to hold you to that promise to keep me posted 🙂

      David-
Thanks! Right now, I’m still accessing internet from the library but I can write at night and type it up here during the day. Weekdays tend to be slow, so I’m not in anybody’s way and the librarians have been very kind. I don’t have access to the resources to produce a cd, so I’ll start small: get the ebook written and generate some income, get a steady roof over my head, then work on the cd. The second series requires video, so I do have big plans- but when you’re trying to build from rock bottom, you have to take it one step at a time. Besides, writing gives me something to occupy myself with at night when it gets a little scary for me. I greatly appreciate your encouragement!

    Hi David.

Thanks for the opportunity of sharing…

Having spent the last 30 years trying to work out exactly what I feel passionate about, it’s led me to live in various countries (including Oz where I live no longer, but am still a citizen)and trying on multiple and various (and I mean various) roles, from Interior Architecture to Financial Planning & Investment advising, to Real Estate selling and Headhunting internationally in the IT world, etc, etc, to ultimately working in people development.

I always knew I loved people and wanted to ‘help’ them, but it’s taken me many years to realise I needed to become and ‘help’ myself first and my long, circuitous and very often tortuous route has made me the person that I am and therefore much better qualified through understanding Self and challenging situations of all kinds, to work with others in a more useful way.

I now realise my passion is about helping people understand our connectedness. Not just as diverse people on this planet, but as ‘beings’ sharing a sentient planet, minerals, plants and animals included.

Therefore, one of my aims is to create awareness of how we are all ‘role models’ to one another and therefore it falls to everyone of us, individually, to take responsibility for developing our own self-awareness, demonstrated through our carefully chosen actions and behaviours, which automatically impact and influence everyone around us.

Particularly for those in positions of influence – recognised ‘leaders’ – at work or in the community, we need more ‘conscious’ role models to demonstrate how to connect and bring people and planet together in a caring, compassionate and respectful way.

If we remain fragmented, we will expend energy on divisiveness vs focusing on understanding what really matters – how we can all cooperate, collaborate and support one another.

I would like to help people understand therefore how ‘who they are’ makes a difference, not just ‘what they do’. And how each of us, with awareness, can use that identity to influence our world for the better.

I have many original ideas for social enterprise style projects, around values-based education from age 4-21; drawing on the skills of successful people to create their own Living Legacies, by drawing on their own skillsets and leveraging their contacts to help create and run community projects that inspire them; ways of developing more ‘conscious’ role models in society, specifically for the younger aspiring influencers, as well as profiling existing yet maybe less obvious ‘role models’. I recognise, however, that I’m more the ‘visionary’ and need others to work with me to help bring ideas to fruition.

Currently, as a leadership coach in the corporate world, I help key people develop better relating skills and understand who they need to be to forge stronger relationships, improving the success of their work, as well as strengthening their relationships on all levels.

My passion, however, is to take and use my experience to develop projects in the social enterprise arena where I can focus more specifically on influencing change in areas such as those outlined above.

That’s my next, preferred step. How to do it, at the moment, escapes me. I’m waiting for ‘guidance’ in whatever form that may take…

So, David. Thanks for a very inspiring project! A wonderful and very heartfelt video clip was enough to get me to contribute. I wish you and everyone else involved every success in realising their dreams and to go beyond where they’d previously imagined possible!!

Caroline-This is SO needed and the more people who talk about it, blog about it and have sites about it, the better.

Maybe you could start with a blog, something you can do right now. You can monetize it with ads and while you’re writing it also start learning how to get traffic and backlinks. Learn while doing, you know?! 🙂

Then expand. By that time, you will have a good idea what products you want to promote and what form they will take.

      Just take that first step….

    Greetings,
I turn 64 in May and looking back, I feel like I have done it all – 3 degrees, corporate job with Fortune 100 company, franchise owner and now partner with my husband in our home based business – which ties us up geographically and time-wise. We both love photography (he is a part-time professional) and digital manipulation of photos. His passion is macro and landscape photography and mine is digital painting and old photo restoration. Our dream is to find a way to travel the country via the back roads, taking pictures and/or accepting pictures from clients that they want transformed into wall art. And it would really be nice to find people who will pay us large sums of money for our pictures or services!!! I believe that most people have a box or more of photos stashed away that never see the light of day and we could help them select one or more and turn it into something they would be proud to display in their home.

      Lonna,

Why aren’t you guys online already???
You could easily do your business just as you say you want to over the internet. Easier, because you don’t need a geographical location!

Sounds like you guys are looking at it from the wrong end. A common mistake, since we are all closer to the wrong end if we’re not happy.

So, go to the other end….exercise that ‘google’ finger and look up art and photography sites of people who are doing it (vs consumer sites where you just buy art). I think you’ll get some fantastic ideas for your own site and business.

      Good luck and blessings

      Hi Joyce,
We already do have websites for our geographically located businesses.

What I am working on is a new business and telling me to get a website up now is kind of like telling someone who just started running to enter a marathon next week. It could be done but the results might be fatal!

You are right that that the internet is the right vehicle for this new business and I have done extensive research on similar business on the web and that is why I know that I need to do some more work before launching.

Hi David, great story and site. I’ve not read the book yet, I’m looking forward to it.

Like you, I studiied pretty hard at a Grammar School in London , UK and I got some really good grades. I fancied earning money rather than studying further so, I went straight to work at age 18 instead of Uni.

I joined the IT industry and I’ve been there for over 20 years now. Travelling in US and around Europe, working for great companies incl. IBM, EDS, Accenture, Barclays and Visa.

Probably 10 years back, something clicked and I just fell out of love with what I do. However, I’ve been stuck and have not moved on. My spirit told me that I had to find the work that I love to do. After ignoring this for a few years. I remembered my boyhood dream to become a motivational speaker. I joined toastmasters 3 years ago and conquered my fear of public speaking and I have also become a success and career coach.

I am so alive when I deliver a speech and help clients to take their game to the next level.

My dream now is to creat a speaking and coaching business so that I can make the transition from an employee to an entrepeneur.

We Just THINK It’s New Because It’s Probably New To Us!! Even The Inventor Of The TV MANY Decades Ago (A Russian Man, By The Way), Stated: “. . . I Wouldn’t Let MY Grandchildren NEAR That Monster!” And, Even MrBigJim Here THOUGHT TV Was NEW When He Saw It Come Out Right After WWII.

I am going through a crisis realising that the traditional world I studied hard to be part does not support being a mom to my son. We have a nanny who spends more time with my son and she cries when she leaves. I have to quit my high paying job to be a mom but I also want to be able to contribute and work around a different schedule.

There’s no doubt in my mind that there are other mom’s who feel the same and have experienced the same as you, too. When you share your story, you’re also providing guidance and VALUE to those who are seeking it. Just a thought. 😉

Wow, I’ve been there as well. and still it isn’t easy, and I don’t get all the extras either, but I am still at the point, and have like always been at this point, “I am doing the Mom thing, and my child really needs the guidance/training/learning and his mom”, so that comes first. I would not mind getting the “extras”, which are probably like just normal and not even extras to a Double parent family, and with proper passion and faith alliance within myself, I’ll be where I need to be, and have the time/money freedom that we both deserve, not long from now.
I’ll write my story to you soon. I am tired,I was just reading through my new bookclub mates here on this blog, and thought to comment, and sending love your way.

    Hi, David,

I worked in the financial service industry for approx 15 years, and last year quit the high-paying corporate job to start my own business, New Face of Retirement.

Growing up in a family of 11 kids, I always identified with people who were older. In corporate, the last 8 years were in the position of Manager of Operations, Marketing & Human Resources. I LOVED what I did, but I got bored. In 2003 I became coach certified and retirement coach certified to help coworkers and others.

I started my business last year. I’ve found that as people near the retirement transition, business owners often want to grow their business before they retire or they want to begin to ‘step out’ of their business for extended periods of time. I help structure the business, advise on marketing and on hiring practices, and work on the “life” aspects of the transition so they can do this successfully. I’ve also found that corporate executives and others want to start a business as part of their transition. I help set up a business they love.

My mission is to help 45-65 year old business owners and corporate executives transition to the next stage successfully so they can finally live their ideal life. Transition and retirement doesn’t have to be a struggle, if you’re shown the way.

Hi everyone I am 77 years young. Most people have a commonality running like a a stringed instrument being strummed in a repetitive note.It is the scars, leftovers from the pains life has dished out to all of us. No one gets out of this life without having to pay a price for being here. Which is truer then all the hope for, hyped up solutions offered in many mirage based chimerical thoughts of religious enthusiasts..I am a student of the Bible. Theologian for 20 years.Until I discovered the greatest truth of the Bible.God has only one favored Son the Lord Jesus Christ. All others are in the Son which needs clarifying. Most people have never studied the bible from beginning to its end.Never discovering the real truth of God’s plan for every human being. Denominations and self interest groups have never told you the truth.Which is like a golden thread in the Bible GOD WAS IN CHRIST RECONCILING THE WORLD UNTO HIMSELF NOT IMPUTING THEIR TRESPASSES UNTO THEM” 2Corinthians 5:18-21.this is just one part of the puzzle about man’s relationship with God.Many of us have been made to feel because of what we belief or do not believe we are orphans without a heavenly Father while the Bible is very clear about the facts.God revealed in Jesus through the work of the Paraclete(The Holy Spirit)IS THE FATHER OF US ALL.He is the Savior of all men but specially of those who believe(1 Timothy 4:9-15)Not only this it is for all not a few.God’s plans are different then we have told.God has no intention to ever let you slip through his fingers. He has planned a feast day in the future Isaiah 25 where he will wipe all tears from all eyes.I had to set aside 20 years of learning and spend the next 30 to learn the truth from the Bible. going back to the original languages.Hebrew,Greek and human to understand God works with legal agreements written indelibly in the blood of His Son. It is the sacrifice of one for the billions of people of the earth.God loves you this not mere semantics but the truth of the legal agreement God made in the Bible. All God has done is set up legal contracts to care of the details.Want to know more read my book as an introduction to the real secret THE SOURCE” I will be available shortly form my website. I have had a lot of pain in my life I was raped when i was ten years old.A fact which has colored my life with pain and suffering. There is’n much in the pain department or I have had my share. It is what drove me to learn the real truth about the relationship between God and mankind.I have written several books concerning this for many people suffer about their relationship with the God of all.God bless may He alleviate your pain.We are all in this together in pain and suffering we are one. Hi David,
    here’s my story, so far…
I’m still reading the book, I received tons of material but I decided to read yours because of a feeling of trust I feel.
I’m an architect, landscape designer, real estate international consultant and interested on sustainability, holistic homes, social and personal development, spirituality….none of this gave me freedom so far, so while reading the first part of the book I saw myself putting together all my experiences in the many fields, writing some eBooks to help with the fear of 2012, with a newly found sister (on facebook)and I guess I’m not the only one going through that process and finally there is a lot of material about landscape design I can help people with.
By the end of your book I’m sure I’ll have more ideas I’ll certainly share here.

Many many thanks, to the freedom, Leila

I have a confession to make. I’ve never held down a ‘real’ job. I don’t fit in, I never have.

I spent my twenties and most of my thirties trying to figure out how to fit in. To ‘fix’ myself so that I can be normal, whatever that is! Life, and some of the people in it, can be extremely uncaring and unfair to those who don’t quite ‘fit’.

Only now am I realizing that being different is necessarily a bad thing. It makes me unusual, unique! So now I am working on discovering who I really am. Peeling away the layers of things I do and have done just to appease others, to fit, to be normal. I’m realizing that the limitations I have been feeling are self imposed and the only way to be truly free and happy is to put aside my fear of being different, and just be me. I want to allow my creative side to express itself and to show others that being different isn’t a curse. It’s a blessing.

I understand what you mean. I used to tell my son “we just need to find our people” and then we will fit in.
I recently watched a movie called All about Steve. It was Great! (with Sandra Bulluck)
Watch it and you will know you are ok.
Just find people who are “normal” like you.
And from what I can tell, from reading a lot of these posts, our “normal” is right here.Let me know what you think about the movie. Actually, everybody should watch it.

      Hi Callie,

I think that you’ve hit the nail on the head here! It’s our uniqueness and different looks on life that makes us so valuable to others. When we implement what we KNOW is when we can not only assist others but ourselves in the long run. Being true to self, as you have discovered, is ultimately the only means we can be present for ourselves and for others.

I hope that you enjoy the book. It’s been a blessing to work behind-the-scenes with David on it! I’m wishing all the best for you!

      Hey Callie,

Been through that drill. I was diagnosed as ADD when I was six (still known as hyperactive then.) I spent most of my life trying to be normal only to find that it does not work for me at all. Accepting myself and and being true to my ideals has been very liberating. I now have the freedom to do as I choose. I love that. Being different or being seen as being different means that people are more likely to accept that “normal” boundries do not apply to you. There is a huge amount of freedom in that. Use it all to your advantage.

It is a lot of fun.

      Much Love

      Debbie

I’ll jump in this pool, too. I was told I couldn’t do all the things I loved doing and that I could only fit in and make a living doing certain jobs–(how about it, ladies, can you relate:) teacher, secretary, nurse. The only way you could do art was to TEACH it. Ditto for writing–teacher again.

I fell for this junk for too many years. I knew it was junk but I wanted to ‘fit in’. Now making up for lost time.

Yes, I guess there’s a pretty good interest in this subject and how one might overcome it. How many boys and girls still today, are being told to conform and stifling other talents?

This doesn’t strike me as a subject that goes out of style or varies much from country to country.

      Good luck

    Hello all,

My story, I’ve been on a search for ways to live those freedoms David talks about in the book, with some success and some frustration.

My first love is writing. Have done some freelance work. I have also worked as a Life Coach, Holistic Health Counselor, Shiatsu practitioner, and others. Recently I have started working with an excellent network marketing company which sells nutritional products. I like that I can set my own schedule–time and location freedom! I highly value being free to travel for longer than a vacation. I am also learning tango right now and I am totally in love with it. Dancing makes me feel really alive. I love to learn new things and to find ways to share what works with others.

As I read through the book and look for a way to “get paid for who I am”, here’s what I have so far (Would love your comments/suggestions):

I help creative women get the freedom to pursue their passions–what they love to do!

I can see doing this through a website and blog where I would offer helpful info. drawing on the fields of creativity, health, travel, personal growth, etc. and bring in guests who exemplify living creatively and finding the freedom to do your passion. I want to find ways to make sure that I’m offering real value and also want to be sure that this is a focused enough niche.

Thanks for reading and I’d love to hear from you!

    Patricia

I can identify with what you wrote, Patricia.I have a lovely daughter who is a single mother of 2 and works a full time job and than has to pick up the girls and go home and tend to their needs.. She has no time to herself or her creativity..I’d love to possibly be involved with something like that.. I reside in S. CA and you?

    Hi David,
I have ordered the book but haven’t recv’d it yet. I have read the first few chapters and can’t wait to get the book:) Not really even sure where to begin other than to say that I find that people open up to me easily and share their life with me. I am a great listener. I was a Pers. Life Coach but found that I held more responsibility for them then they did and decided I didn’t want that responsibility so I stopped coaching. I loved it and always wonder how can I continue to do it. I also had my own internet radio show about awakening the consciousness. I am also an entrepreneur and have many ideas. I start them and then stop. Almost like sabataging myself. What I do know about myself that it is very fulfilling for me to shift ones awareness from….to. I also notice that when I meet people I find myself inquiring as to what they do, if they love what they do and why they do it. I believe everyone should wake up and love what it is they do. That is really where i am at myself, trying to find out what it is i am to do. I am in the midst of a divorce and feel that I can help people on the emotional side of that as I have survived the emotional barrier myself. So with all of this I feel so overwhelmed as to what I could do. I feel i jumped around alot here and hope that you can give me some insight/direction as to where to go. Thank you so much! Linda

      Hey Linda,

Just read your story and could definitely identify. I’ve also worked as a Life Coach and would like to use those skills but don’t necessarity want to have a “practice.” I just find that, like you, I am always asking people those types of questions. I think this is a journey of allowing what we want to create to evolve, as we continue asking ourselves those same questions.

Wish you all the best and look forward to seeing what unfolds!

    David,
I have not yet read the book, but resonated with the title immediately. After working traditionally for 20 yrs and only being punished for being “me” (I am an intelligent, passionate, relationship oriented person)I have left the work place to raise an autistic son. My passion is to help others navigate life’s obstacles and create the best life possible, leaving them free to contribute/pay forward to others. A mind-body-spirit approach. I have been a single mother,a mother of 6 (3 of which have handicaps),married twice, sing professionally/ministry, am a wellness coach and would like to write a book about Angel experiences and Divine appointments/answers to prayer. I have to finish my website (it’s a mess)and am starting a blog that will cover all of these things, providing links to mentors/books/sites that have made a difference to me. I research and report on health issues. I can feel it in my spirit that if I can step outside the fear and self-doubt that binds me, these things could be wildly successful. I visualize singing concerts, selling my books/CD’s and helping to support children thru World Vision Child Sponsorship at the concerts. (I have already been approved, just too chicken to do it!)
    Can you help me?????????????

Well David, here I am. Thank you for the book. I have been letting it linger on my hard drive, scared to open it because I know where I’m at… 11 on the Freedom Quiz.

I’ve recently been through bankruptcy, I’m divorced, I’ve had heart attacks and triple bypass surgery, I’m unemployed with only one prospect on the horizon – and that is a job with a company that I find both to be extremely distasteful. I’m living in shared accommodation with kitchen privileges. My means of transportation is a 12 year old rusting bucket of bolts that needs about 5 times more money put in to it than it is worth… I have no retirement funds (at age 50 something this can be a little scary) and I have no rich relatives who might be kind enough to leave something in their will. Yet… I’m pretty much at peace with it all. Yes, I do want to change my situation. My problem has always been I don’t know what I want to do. I think that’s precisely why I’m where I’m at… I’ve never had a plan. I’ve never been able to trust what felt right inside me. I have always looked for outside input to make sure I was doing what was right for me. How on earth could anyone other than me know what is right for me? And why did I come to distrust my own intuition so much?

So here I am David, looking for a source of inspiration, looking for that spark that will ignite some flame inside me that will fuel a trip to better places – not only for me but for those I reach out and touch as well.

There is one thing I do know for certain – I am at my happiest when I’m helping people. I makes no difference if I’m giving advice a fellow member of an internet forum, helping someone move, holding a door for a stranger, helping someone understand that their happiness resides within, letting someone merge into heavy traffic or giving the right of way in a parking lot or simply showing someone a smile on a rainy day at a bus stop. I am at my best when treating people as the beautiful creations we all are.

      Hi David,
Just wanted to say hello. I read your story and I loved how at the end, after the uncertainty and the challenges, it turns out you do know one thing for certain and it’s such a good thing to know. Trust that and follow where it will lead you. I love that David has creted this program in which we find ways to help others and in turn improve our own situations.

      All the best,
      Patricia

I have been divorced for almost 13 years and am still struggling to ompletely rid myself of the lack of self-esteem from years of verbal abuse. For sometime, I’ve had a Verbal Abuse ministry, but since I’m not a licensed counselor, I just have a brochure on-line. Just before I got this book, I found an old friend who his recovering from physical abuse. I have been inspired to eventually co-author a book with her telling our stories.

But right now I have to work on making money. I have several websites for my real estate business and am working on better things to give away to get contact information. I post of CraigsList a lot aleady! Using your ideas, I should do even better.

For 4 or 5 years I’ve been selling products for other real estate professionals on the internet and have had some success, but not lately because of the economy. I’m also working on some free items and low priced items to try to build a mailing list.

I’m also working with an new national alumni organization for Pershing Rifles and feel that your ideas can help there. I am now going to monitor a forum for people thinking about or working on starting an alumni group for their university.

I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me and hope that it will help me help others and help me make more money. I’m currently living with my daughter and that is getting old. I can’t wait to finally get back into my own place and have the money to travel and enjoy life.

    Thanks for the inspirations.

Loved the book! Ok, so I’ll make this short. I want to get paid for who I am — a cowgirl who can break your horse or paint it. On the fine art side, I paint cowboys, rodeo, and action scenes of anything western whenever I have time. I also love doing web sites and graphic design… Pretty much anything to do with the design side of promotion that gives me a creative outlet.

I’ve cowboyed some and worked for horse trainers — 12 hrs/day, 7 days/wk at $50/day. It’s tough work and pretty soon you run out of money or spare body parts or both.

Now, I do seasonal work for Fairs. I’m making more but I’m still often working 10 hrs/day 6 days/wk. It’s obvious I need more time freedom to implement the steps here.

My problem is that between work, family, church, and not being able to say “no”, I spread myself too thin and leave no time for actually creating a way to have time for the things I get myself roped into.

There are some really inspirational stories here! Thanks to everyone for sharing 😀

My husband and I are very creative people, we are musicians (my husband writes. plays, sings and produces his won music and I have a music degree), artists, animators (we love traditional animation and my husband has an animation degree), writers and comic book artists and I design and make my own bags and costumes. We have tried working for other people in ‘proper’ jobs, but absolutely hated it (so much so that it caused my husband to have a breakdown, and we are only in our twenties!). We have been trying to get our business off the ground for years and feel punished for being creative as we are now in alot of debt to our mortgage company because, after both being made redundant, we haven’t been able to pay our bills. As we have both registered as self employed we get no help from the government and have actually had people tell us that we are stupid to try and make a living from creative enterprises, but we feel that we finally have the right positive mindset to make this work!

I think this blog is a fantastic idea as, reading some of the other posts here has really spurred me on and I know in my heart of hearts that we will get there!

I’m hoping to up my time and financial freedom levels as we are thrilled to be expecting our first (and looooong awaited) baby at the end of next month 🙂

Hi, when you say you are animators, do you mean you can draw illustrations for children’s books? I am writing a book (almost done) for kids and am looking for an illustrator. It’s a dinosaur story. Can you draw dinosaurs and beautiful scenery? I don’t want cartoon type animation, but something that looks real, yet kids will still like (not sure what that is called). Let’s see what happens..

I have always loved music. My parents said I sang before I spoke. In high school, I knew I wanted to work with people and to use music but I wasn’t sure how to do that. Then, I saw an article on Music Therapy. It was a light bulb moment.

Since college, I have found my strengths as a Music Therapist are with older adults and young children. Much of my work life I have been employed in long term care settings but brought children in for interactions.

I had a wonderful year of self employment about 9 years ago. Life took a turn and I ended up back as an employee. I am now restart the business but with more thought given this time. I know building on my strengths will help things grow. The web piece is so needed this time around.

I believe I can get paid for who I am, I am unsure how. In my life I have I have already surprised myself- I have overcome significant odds, achieved things & had experiences that I never dreamed I would ever have. I have lots of different talents singing and talking with people, coaching & perserving our oceans are at the top of my list. What I dream of is financial freedom to be able to help on a large scale, like helping kids know love & understand the ocean, sitting on the advisory board of my favorite charity, meeting & helping the Cousteau family would be a dream come true! (when I was five I dreamed of being Jacques daughter!) I am in the process of becoming again and am curious how that is going to look.

Seems everyone is a little tied up in there own problems and that is the problem…

You want to know our vision? At this point, i just don’t want to have to be racing to the bank to make sure i have enough money there to pay for bills.
I have hep C, and a bunch of other health issues and on disability. I have read a lot of your posts and you all sound so creative.
It is not the motivation for me , it is more of the “what do i want to do?” thing.
One of the problems, is that I am ADHD and talk fast and change topics and projects, always wondering where the heck I am headed. But it seems that i have time to squeeze in helping anyone that passes by, from paperwork, solving a problem, creating a business, family issues, but those things don’t pay my bills. my son says i need to focus more on me and make money and than i can financially help the others. ( wise words for a 19 year old.) I have read skimmed through the book, and I did do my first blog on wordpress http://worldofhepatitis.wordpress.com
and i went to Weebly and I am working on that.
I realize that unfortunately this stupid thing with Hep C is a big part of my life and i do know more about it than most people. So, this is what i am writing about. Then we have the issue of writing. I always have a fear of people reading what I write, looking into the depths of who you might really be and then the grammar stuff isn’t always right. I have taken English classes, but i have a real problem with remembering things and direction, heck i still can’t get east and west right— here in Oceanside Ca. even when i am looking right at the sun setting. So, lots of challenges, and right now it’s shingles, but I have been reading and writing now for 3 days, and the house is a mess, but I am making head way. who cares if it isn’t perfect at the moment, thank you –I go back and review the book and it is the first thing that has really given me directions, step by step. So, maybeI can make money and help people live longer with hep c.
    Good luck everybody!

    Dear David,

I wish to Thank-you very much for sharing this wonderful information with so many of us.

Sorry, the reply that I just wrote got lost, and never posted, and I didn’t copy it into my browser.

So, this time around I am keeping it short, although there is sooooo much I wish to say and share.

I am a single mom in a bad situation since obtaining a job in this economy with the restricted hours that I can work, since I have no babysitters available, is ridiculous and I am often scared.

My daughter and I have many Angels and Support in ways that often unfold right before I think that we are losing the roof over our head, because sometimes I have no clue how to pay the rent, since her Dad has quit his job about 4 weeks ago, always has been fighting and not wanting to pay Child and Spousal Support etc…

Now, I have decided to take your idea and advise into ‘my hands’ 🙂 and hopefully being able to use to create a beautiful life, not only for my daughter and myself but for others, too.

My vision (which I have for a few years, now) is soooo HUGE that I can’t even begin to write it all down.
I scored very low in this test here, because if you don’t have the finances basically everything else goes down the gutter. I do have time, lots of time during the day when my daughter is in school and I do various things, but nothing which has turned into a product or services, yet.

I wish to share a poem with you all, which says it all. So please feel free to follow this link to Booksie.com and see for yourself. (Comments are welcome. Thanks)

    http://tinyurl.com/yalabi

My mission it is “To help woman who have been in bad relationships to feel better about themselves!” …
…and there is sooooooo much more! I want to write a childrens book. I have told my daughter this beautiful story many times over. It is a story based on the “Law Of Attraction” and she already told me that she wants to be my Illustrator. I was so touched! She is only 6 years old, and draws so beautifully. When drawing people she already draws them in perspective to their posture. She is an amazing little girl! I am so proud of her.

Please let me know, David, if there is anything you may recommend for this particular situation of ours, since my biggest issue is the fact of financial support, since my hands are really tied to generate an income via a regular job right now, so it seems. I have mailed-out hundreds of applications, resumes etc.. I have attended interviews, and every time when I asked for a day-time job, Mon-Fri, I was turned down. I have two ‘learned’ professions, and I am versatile, which I felt that the potential employers always liked me, but non of them are apt to be flexible enough to give a single mom a job, whom needs it most.

Now, the day care right next to her school is not accepting any more kids since they have reached their limit for this year, which brings my hours of availability down to a part-time job….. It is scary!

Please for some heartfelt and “do-able” advise.
Meanwhile I will continue to read your book, David. Thanks so much.

    Have a wonderful day 🙂
    Yvonne L.

PS: Sorry the lenghtly e-mail, I tried to keep this message short … smiles … but this is as short as it gets in accordance to what I really haven’t said, yet.

      Thank you Hubert 🙂
My life is pretty shaky, too – and at this point and time I have stopped to like excitement. Since my daughter has been born, I truly am looking to become more grounded. I used to travel very much and never felt really home at one place at a time.

Now it’s different, but “hey” when I met her dad my so called ‘vibration’ wasn’t in alignment with being a ‘stay home mom’. Often I ask myself “WOW, what did I expect?” Well, if I had known about 8 years ago, what I know now I would have done things a lot different, but I guess I would not have my daughter then?

      Yvonne,
I say keep doing what you’re doing with an hourly wage, and sending applications to get a better job, so you’re not dependent on your internet business for income (that will take some pressure off).

Then on the side……it’s just five steps!

      Thank you David.

Yes, I keep doing what I am doing. I love to write and I also love to interact with people. I have found a ‘Woman’s Group’which will get together in Mid-May, and I hope to be able to connect with others whom are in a similar situation. I am looking to find this as a ‘real’ support group where genuine friendships may build.

I wish to start an Internet Business, but since this also requires a certain small amount of funding, I have not been able to make things official. That’s the problem. I have NO INCOME at this point and time, since my husband has quit his job and wage-attachments haven’t been disbursed in 4 weeks. Living on Food-Stamps still doesn’t pay the rent, you know. This IS why it is scary!

My family overseas sometimes sends a little bit of something for birthdays and for the Holidays, but that again doesn’t help to pay our rent, but to pay some bills and to get much needed clothing for my daughter here and there, since she is growing so fast!

I have looked into the ‘deeper sense’ of why I have failed to aquire a regular job over the past year, and I wonder if maybe God (The Universe) may wish to point out that I am not work for anyone else but to stay-put and to find options to focus my time on manifesting my Grand Vision!

It just seems so fruitless that every time I have an idea of how to put it into place – all of a sudden – the rug is pulled under my feet and again the situation turns into thoughts of “How can I do it, if I have no coverage for the roof over our head?’ I am safe, so I feel until the end of May. I hope something comes up, so I am able to pay June’s rent.

I know that what I think about and then place negative emotions into it, that I will bring about.
It is the hardest for me to purposely create many moments in my daily life where I am not constantly thinking “Oh my God, how will I prevent to end up in a shelter with my little girl?” It is frightening, and to not feel these type of emotions is nearly impossible.

You know, a smart person once proclaimed that the Biggest Battle is the Battle we fight within ourselves.
I cannot express how true this has become for me.
Despite of all the odds, I am consciously suggesting to myself that in order to overcome these frightening odds, I am to find many moments in a day to focus away from these thoughts but to do something that comes to me naturally, which is writing and communicating, where I am placing myself ‘into the zone’ 😉 so I am restricted to worry.

It works for moments, and often I wonder if it is enough!

I am sure that many people experience these type of emotions combined with personal thought about their individual situation.

All I can say to them is this:
“Give yourself the greatest Gift that you can, by becoming totally awake in each present moment, and then seek and search for the positive aspect in the Right Here And Now, while giving your attention 100%. Be and act the best that you possibly can”
The more of these moments one is able to create for themselves the better the reward long-term.

You might say: “Wow, she proclaims all these things, and still is scared herself”
“Yes, I am”, so I say, “because I still am learning and practicing to fill the thousands of moments that each day brings with such Goddies 🙂
I am far from accomplished, but I know that I am getting better each day, because I chose so”.

May God help me to be aware enough so I am alert enough to see important opportunities that present themselves along the way. May I be alert and sharp-minded enough to utilize them wisely for the benefit of the Greater Good. May I overcome my fear by learning to ALWAYS feel safe, NO MATTER WHAT!

      Thank you.
      Y.

I guess I started at a very young age at helping others because that was something my mother instilled in myself and my bother and sisters. She had taught us that we were not any better than anyone else and that no one was any better than we were. I have always done things for others starting with our neighbors. I would help the little old lady next door to us, cleaning her yard for her because she just couldn’t do it anymore.
My first real job was working in long-term care in the hospital where my mother worked. I would sit for hours after my work was done and listen to the stories of their lives. They were the most heart warming stories I had ever heard.
The rest of my jobs up to this time were always in the customer service sector. Sales clerk, receptionist, and plant nursery worker (but I still dealt with the public and helping people get what they wanted).
In 1988 my boyfriend and I moved to Austin, TX and went there without jobs or a place to live. It didn’t take us long to get jobs and we lived in an old house that belonged to a friend’s family. It didn’t have electricity, or furniture. I cooked on an open fire and used a garden hose that was flipped over an outhouse for a shower ( the hose was heated by the sun and the water came out extremely hot). I would gather eggs from the few hens his friend had and I managed to buy enough groceries for the week with $20. Then he got a job with another company that hauled sandy loam, sand, and gravel to road projects and construction sites, and consumers. I also got a job as a secretary at the same company and worked my way up to a dispatcher and we had a trailer furnished for us.
Then we moved to Florida and we got a job picking up eggs on a chicken farm. Everyday, three times a day we walked the length of two football fields, picking up eggs from 40,000 chickens housed in two different houses. The eggs were put into trays and the trays went on a cart that had to be pushed down the long aisles.
After this we parted ways and I came to Savannah, GA where I met my current husband. We lived together for a year and after my husband had asked his accountant whether or not getting married would hurt him on his taxes for the year, and his accountant had said no, we were married on Dec. 28, 1998. After a year of marriage I had to have knee surgery because my knee cap was too high and it was causing swelling and pain. I had the surgery and afterwards I developed Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, and Fibromyalgia. Since then it has been down hill as far as health and relationship. I was diagnosed with Hep C in 1999 and went through Interferon treatments for 18 months, which destroyed my thyroid but got rid of the Hep C. Next came another surgery for pre-cancer on the cervix and then my gall-bladder gave out. Then just this year I was diagnosed with Sjogren’s (Show-grin’s) syndrome, which is another auto-immune disease and causes your eyes and mouth to stay dry. Of course the dryness can cause all kinds of other complications, scratches on your cornea, and the drying out of your kidneys and lungs. I also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

I have taken everything that has happened to me health wise and started a website to educate people on the diseases of arthritis and fibromyalgia. I got tired of people who knew nothing about them make comments like “She doesn’t look sick.” My husband will tell them that I am very good at not letting them know just how bad I really feel. I told him that I have had many years to perfect it.

However, I’m not sure where my passion to help the homeless comes from. It just breaks my heart to see anyone who has no food, or no home standing along side the road with a sign that says “Homeless in need of food.” With the number of foreclosures and job losses the homeless are growing in leaps and bounds and I have yet to see anyone or any agency trying help them. When I see people living under the bridges and in abandoned buildings that were condemned years ago, I have to wonder, if we are doing everything we can then why are they still there? I collect coats and blankets for those who will not go to the shelters and for those who would go if the shelters had room. I also crochet hats and scarves for them. And that is why I am going to have a shelter where these people can live if they want and the children that are also living on the street have a safe place to stay and they can get the education that they need. If you have never been homeless then you have no idea the emotions that go along with it. I have been homeless.

      Dear Angie,

I have great empathy for your life’s story. WOW!
It looks like You Are The One that is to have a home. When I say “Home” I mean more than ‘just’ a roof over your head! I feel that you are to find this Special Place within yourself where you experience the warm feeling of “Home Safe”

From what I am reading, you have managed (and learned through your childhood experiences) to ALWAYS put other people’s needs before your own. I am detecting that it hurts you more to see someone else suffering than when it happens to you!

Please, dear “Angie-Angel” give yourself a BIG LOVING HUG and tell this Girl inside of you that you care to help her feeling loved and cared for in all ways that Angie is helping and loving others.

When you have managed to take care of YOU first, emotionally, mentally, physically by creating personal ‘feel-good moments’ which include gratitude for this beautiful being that you are, you are well on your way to then share this wealth with others from a well of plenty!

A dried-up well can’t give and support from what isn’t there.
Your body is telling you something, Sweetheart!
You must be good to you and keep your thoughts and wishes of ‘I want to give and help’ to you by focusing solely on stabilizing and strengthening Angie, for this particular time in your life. Only then will you be able to share and shelter others!

Please take care of you, right now, since you seem to need your special Angie-Attention the most.

From the bottom of my heart I wish to say this to you:

“It is noble to give a man fish, so he can eat for a day; but more blissful it is for the man, if you teach him how to fish, so he can eat for a life time!”

      Love and Blessings to you,
      Yvonne.

I didn’t mean for it to sound as if I didn’t take care of myself, I do. As of today I haven’t had any fibro or arthritis pain for nearly a year. I eat healthy and exercise every other day. I make sure that I have my time with God, I journal, meditate, do Brain Wave Entertainments to help relax and get the sleep I need, I also have learned to say no so I don’t become overwhelmed. But, I will never stop caring about others, that is my gift from God.

There were some things that I forgot to add and that is that my boyfriend would beat me on a regular basis. When we moved to Florida he had shot a 44 magnum long barrel, aiming for my head. As the bullet sped past my head it only hit my hair because I had stepped forward a few steps. I sat down to recover from that and he came over and shot the floor about an inch from my foot and it sprayed my legs and the ceiling only to hit another guy about 5 ft. away. That is the reason why I left and came to Savannah and I am told that this was the reason for some of the problems I had. Anyway, I am past that and moved on with my life. He is now dead and that’s that.

Thank you so much for your concern, but I am doing great now.

Glad to hear that Angie 😉

One thing comes to mind, as reading your reply and noticing that your initial post speaks of your past, solely.

“Isn’t it great that we also learn from other people’s mistakes?”

      Glad you’re safe.

Angie – it’s amazing how parallel our lives are. I reside in Austin, have been homeless as well, and also have a great passion for helping the homeless. May I offer a thought for you? Since you are skilled in crocheting, perhaps you can move forward with that and see where it takes you (such as selling them, etc) with the profits going towards savings for the shelter you’d like to build. Your dreams are there, it’s just playing the game of placing the objectives into action! All the best to you!

I have actually done some research into finding buildings for what I want to do. The Federal Government will give anyone who wants to start a shelter a building that they have. They only thing as of right now there isn’t any in the State of Georgia or even Savannah for that fact. I like your idea and I have thought of that but every time I do that I end up giving them away along with most of my projects. I have accepted donations for my products but that’s it.

Thanks I will make a more conscience effort not to give away my products.

I don’t have a job. I took a year off to write, and finished a children’s novel, in 2007! It’s been a long ‘year’. I’ve worked with a MLM company until recently, but in September I re-entered education and am studying at university for an honours degree in psychology. I’m 25 years married this year, and my husband and I are still in love. We have two fabulous daughters who are at university now and we have a great relationship, and friendship with them. So, I know I could help anyone who 1. Wants to re-enter education as a mature student (I’m age 50). 2. Wants advice on a successful relationship, and 3. Wants advice on parenting teenagers and still be friends with them. What I want is the financial freedom to continue my studies without worrying about the mounting bills.

Funny thing…I wrote the above without even mentionin the one thing that I am passionate about doing…spiritual healing. It’s such a part of my life that I don’t even think of it as something I do, rather as something I am.

      Hi Erza,

I don’t have a name for the type of healing I do. It’s based on a method I learned from a guy who studied in Tibet and China, but it uses mainly intuition, and calling on Spirit and the Angels.

    Hi David and All:

Congratulations and thank you for your creativity and knowledge.

I lived a great childhood until 7,then my father died and everything changed into a struggle and looking for answers. I began to read at an early age and then in my twenties I got some of the answers I was looking for. I had some great spiritual experiences: becoming one with the universe, listening voices from beyond, etc. That brought me to yoga, which I have practiced for over 20 years. Got a couple of master degrees and nowadays I live happily with my girlfriend.

I represent a human and organizational development in Latinamerica, which I really enjoy, but would like to create the means to share more of what I know and help more people live happily, and also, generate a nice passive income.
